PGA Tour Golf: Viktor Hovland in 3D tie for the Valspar championship | Golf news

Viktor Hovland was stable in a wild Saturday by charges and collapses in the Valspar championship, leaving him in a triple draw for the Innisbrook lead with two dozen players still very much in the mix.

Jacob Bridgeman showed plenty of glass in his first time as a leader of 36 holes, with the fall of four shots behind the turn and concentration for a 70 to share the lead with Hovland (69) and Nico Echavarria (66).

They were in seven-year with seemingly everyone on their heels. This includes Justin Thomas, who left hopefully on Friday he would cut the cut. He shot 30 at the back of nine for a 65, the lowest round of never at the Copperhead Course in the Innisbrook, to finish two rear.

Jordan Spieth was fun as always, making twice birdie from deep in the woods, and lacking a pair of short Par Putts, and had to be installed for a 67.

It was still only four shots behind Sunday, where 23 players were separated from four shots.

Byeong Hun was the only player to reach nine with a bird in the 11th hole, just to make five bogeys over the last seven holes for 72.

“It’s fun to be in a dispute, but it’s a little more stressful when you don’t feel super comfortable over the ball,” Hovland said. “But the man, it’s fun to see some putts coming in and still seeing the ball ending near the hole and putting some good scores there.”

Echavarria, who won in Japan last fall for the second title of the PGA Tour, ended well in front of the final teams and played without Bogey for his 66, remarkably making Birdie in all three par 3s in the rear nine.

“This is a golf course where you don’t have to be one of the lead that starts to take leaders,” he said. “We’ve seen that it’s a hard golf course. You have to drive your ball very well here. You have to hit the green. It’s difficult around the green. So we’ll have a chance tomorrow with a good round.”

Ricky Castillo enjoyed a 68 and was a shot back. Thomas and Shane Lowry (70) were between five players in five down, with one and Billy Horschel (69) in the big team another shot. Lucas Glover (69) was part of the team with Spieth in four rear.

“The leaderboard is stacked. There are probably 25 children – 30 children may – who can still win this golf tournament,” said Jeremy Paul, Germany, who shot 70 and was in the team two shots back. “Trying to put a good round together and see where he puts me.”
