The Pentagon said it would investigate what it claims to be leaks of information about national security, and says that the probes can include polygraaf tests for employees at the Ministry of Defense.
Defense minister Pete Hegseeth’s Staff chef, Joe Kasper, sent a memo on Friday and said that the intelligence and law enforcement arms of the Pentagon “recent unauthorized disclosures” of national security information investigate, without offering details about alleged leaks.
“Recent unauthorized disclosures of information about national security with regard to sensitive communication with clients within the office of the Defense Secretary (OSD) demand immediately and thorough research,” Kasper wrote.

“If this effort results in information that a party identifies responsible for unauthorized disclosure,” the information is “referred to the correct criminal entity for criminal prosecution,” he added.
Kasper’s memo said that the polygrafs would be used “in accordance with the applicable legislation and policy.”

“The New York Times is pure propaganda,” said Musk on Friday on X. “I also look forward to the persecution of those in the Pentagon who leaks malicious false information to NYT. They will be found.”
Research into the alleged leaks in the Pentagon comes after the Minister of Interior Security Kristi has unveiled a step to set up lie detectors on employees in an attempt to identify people who can leak information to the media about immigration enforcement operations.
On Friday, the Ministry of Justice also announced an investigation into what it claimed “the selective leak of inaccurate, yet classified, information” of intelligence services on a Venezuelan gang called the Aragua, of which alleged members are directed by the Trump administration for removal from the US from the VS

Leaks from the federal government take place in every administration at different agencies.
While polygraaf exams are usually not permissible in legal proceedings Because of the concern about their unreliability, they are often used by federal law enforcement agencies and for national security agents.
The Supreme Court also ruled in 1998 that polygraaf tests were not inadmissible in military justice procedures.
