Manchester City have reportedly been linked with a move for Paul Pogba ahead of the former Manchester United and Juventus midfielder’s return next year.
According to The Independent, City are eyeing a potential move for the 31-year-old, who has been eligible to play again since March 11 after his four-year ban for elevated testosterone levels was recently reduced to 18 months.
However, Pogba, a World Cup winner with France in 2018, is believed to be reluctant to join the Premier League champions given his links to rivals City in red.
Pogba is currently a free agent after leaving Juventus in November, with City boss Pep Guardiola believed to be a long-term admirer.

Given Rodri’s injury absence and City’s poor run of results, it has been suggested that Pogba could present a potential solution for Guardiola.
However, any potential move in the new year could depend on the outcome of City’s Premier League hearing, which concluded last week, with a verdict expected sometime in February. City maintains its innocence.
Reports of City’s interest in Pogba come just a week after compatriot Adrien Rabiot said he would like Pogba to join him at Marseille in Ligue 1.
Rabiot made 27 appearances with him for France and Juve between 2016 and 2023 and told DAZN (via RMC) after Marseille’s 2-0 league win at St Etienne: “Of course I would like to play with Paul.
“We had the chance to get together at Juventus, where we didn’t have the chance to play much together because he had a lot of problems.
“I was a little disappointed. We invite him to come and play at the Marseille Olympics. What we implement is really very important.”
