Denzel Washington Put the record right over his position.
Washington admitted that he does not consider himself a Hollywood actor, despite winning two Academy Awards, a Tony Award and three Golden Globes.
“What is the definition of a Hollywood actor? Myself, I am from Mt. Vernon, so I am a ‘Mt. Vernon actor’,” said Washington during an appearance “CBS Sunday morning. “The actor apparently refers to his hometown in New York.” I don’t know what ‘Hollywood’ means. “
“Someone who is famous on film? A film actor, great success on film?” He mused further.

Washington, who plays the leading role in the new Broadway production of “Othello”, regards himself as a ‘stage actor’. The 70-year-old star will enter the stage alongside Jake Gyllenhaal for the show, which has not been on Broadway since 1982.
“I am a stage actor who films; it is not the other way around,” Washington explained. “I first did the stage. I learned how to act on stage, not on films. Movies are the medium of a filmmaker. You shoot it, and then you are gone, and they cut together and add music and do it all. Theater is the medium of an actor. The curtain goes up, nobody can help you.”
Washington started his career in Theater after training at the American Conservatory Theater. He performed in a number of off-broadway shows before landing his breakthrough role in the medical drama “St. Elsewhere” in 1982. He earned several nominations for his work at the show and was eventually able to break into film.
Washington is known For his films such as “Fences”, “Training Day”, “The Book of Eli,” “Cry Freedom” and “Malcom X.”

Washington recently became minister. The actor was baptized by Bishop James Pullings Jr. In the Kelly Temple in New York City in December.
“It took a while, but I am finally here … If (God) can do this for me, there is nothing that he can’t do for you,” said Washington, according to a video that is shared online. “The sky is literally the limit.”

Washington has previously criticized Hollywood and noticed that people “cannot talk” about religion in the industry.
“When you see me, you see the best I could do with what I got through my Lord and Savior,” wrote the “Gladiator II” star for Esquire. “I’m not afraid.”
“I don’t care what someone thinks. See, talk about the anxiety part of it – you can’t talk and win Oscars. You can’t talk and party. You can’t say that in this city,” Washington added.
