Obama alumni trash ‘stubborn old man’ Biden’s ‘lame’ Jan. 6 op-ed

The liberal hosts behind “Pod Save America” have dismissed President Biden’s Jan. 6 Washington Post op-ed as “lame” and criticized Democrats for “showing virtue” after Vice President Kamala Harris declared Donald Trump’s election on Monday had certified.

“There’s a whole language that Democrats should just throw in the trash, like ‘institutions,’ ‘democracy,’ ‘this is sacred,'” said Jon Favreau, one of former President Barack Obama’s speechwriters.

Biden warned Monday that America risks a repeat of the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot if the history of the day is forgotten, and called on the country to “commemorate” the incident annually.

“But we must not forget it. We must remember the wisdom of the adage that any nation that forgets its past is doomed to repeat it. We cannot accept a repeat of what happened four years ago.” Biden wrote.

‘NICE NAME’: TRUMP ANNOUNCES GULF OF MEXICO IS GETTING A NEW, PRO-AMERICA RENEWAL

Podcast co-host and former Obama speechwriter Jon Lovett claimed that Biden had misunderstood the quote about history repeating, coined by philosopher George Santayana, going so far as to liken Biden to a “stubborn old man.”

“If you’re too stuck in the past, if you become stubborn like an old man, then you’re also doomed to repeat yourself,” Lovett said.

“That’s pretty annoying,” said co-host and former Obama spokesman Tommy Vietor.

The hosts called the op-ed appalling because it would be out of step with the American electorate, and admitted that the majority of voters did not care about the events of January 6.

“Biden’s op-ed said nothing,” Favreau said. “An op-ed about January 6 is the perfect summary of how crappy everything feels right now.”

The Democratic Party has faced increasing calls to change the way it communicates with voters, with critics claiming it relies on overly “woke” and academic rhetoric that alienates ordinary people.

Clinton campaign member James Carville called on Democrats to tone down “idiotic NPR jargon” as he spoke to voters in an interview Sunday with MSNBC host Jen Psaki.

‘Let’s be authentic and to the point’ Carville said.

The hosts continued to bash Biden’s op-ed for not offering concrete steps to fight back against what they see as an “attempted coup” by Trump.

EX-OBAMA ADVISOR CALLS OUT SCHUMER FOR ‘FOOLISH’ CLAIM DEMS ARE NOT MISLEATED ABOUT BIDEN

“Our party is one sad op-ed,” Vietor said.

“Democrats showing virtue and explaining over and over again why the insurrection is so terrible didn’t work. This style of politics is not working,” Lovett said.

Vietor claimed the piece made him “really frustrated with Joe Biden for running for re-election.” The trio were part of the liberal pressure campaign against the president not to run for re-election after a period of re-election dismal debate performance against Trump in June.
