Senate minority leader Chuck SchumerDN.Y., and house removal leader Hakeem Jeffries, DN.Y., only live a few blocks apart while you walk from Prospect Heights to Park Slope in Brooklyn.

But political observers suspect that there is practically a political distance bridge that now includes between the two Brooklyn Democrats. Schumer decided to help Republicans to break a filibuster and to prevent a government closure last week. Schumer’s decision caused howling of spot from Huisdemocrats who were practically united in their opposition against the GOP expenditure package. Schumer and nine other Democrats voted to break the filibuster. That sent a lot of Democrats in an attack of apostlexion.

Distance and geography help us understand this observed gap between Schumer and Jeffries.

It is a solid 40 miles from the Lansdowne Resort in Leesburg, va. Washington, DC. After the house voted to approve the emergency law last Tuesday, Democrats brought this high-tailing to Leesburg for their annual issues that dried back. Jeffries and other democratic leaders held a press conference on the first day. Other Democrats spoke at nine press conference about the following days.

Top House Democrat leaves Schumer in the cold in the midst of the longing of the closing drama

But back on Capitol Hill last Friday, Jeffries and other democratic leaders would return from Leesburg for a press conference just before the vote to break a filibuster about the spending measure.

Schumer claimed that bypassing a government was the least of two evils. He argued that a closure of President Trump and Elon Musk would further enable the federal personnel and closing departments to lower.

Jeffries didn’t bought it. And he had a signal to accommodate Democrats about which side he stood.

Jeffries/Schumer Split

A remarkable gap has recently been opened between house minority leader Hakeem Jeffries, DN.Y., and Senate Line Leader Chuck Schumer, DN.Y., after the decision of the latter to help Republicans to break a filibuster and to prevent a government closure. (Getty Images)

“Huisdemocrats remain strong against the partisan Republican expenditure that will harm families, veterans will hurt, hurt seniors and harm the American people,” said Jeffries. “It’s a false choice that Donald TrumpElon Musk and Huis Republicans have presented. “

Schumer and Jeffries spoke after the top democrat in the Senate announced that he would reluctantly vote to break a filibuster – and bring various democratic colleagues. Republicans check the Senate. But they only have 53 votes. Sixty voices are needed to crush a filibuster. That is where Democrats come in.

And Schumer admitted.

Schumer under fire from Democrats for supporting the Republican expenditure account, which means that leadership problems are fueled: report

“Is it time for new leadership in the Senate,” asked Fox Business Chase Williams to Jeffries at the hastily arranged house democratic leadership nieuws conference on Capitol Hill.

“Next question,” Jeffries replied.

Another reporter tried a different approach.

“Have you lost confidence in him, the fact that you see this so differently,” the reporter asked.

“Next question,” Jeffries repeated.

What is unspoken is often what the loudest speaks in politics. That was so striking about the identical reactions of Jeffries when he was asked about his colleague Brooklynite. Again, Jeffries saw about the bill and how Schumer got stuck the Republicans. Otherwise he and other democratic leaders would not have been returned to Capitol Hill from the suburbs of Virginia to explode the legislation.

Democrats shoot Sen. Chuck Schumer for supporting GOP spending account

Yours really wanted to follow after the press conference, given the direct restraint of Jeffries about Schumer.

“Why was you afraid of saying something about Schumer when you were asked?” I asked Jeffries while he walked the studio of the Radio/TV Gallery house.

Jeffrie’s attitude is usually cooler than a swirled Mr. Softee Cone under a shadow tree in Prospect Park in August. But after my question, Jeffries put into his mark and a hint of anger flashed.

“Don’t characterize! No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No,” Mad Jeffries,

“But my question was, why are you afraid of saying something?” I intervened.

“Don’t know my comments. I’m not afraid of anything. Everything!” said Jeffries.

“You went to another question,” I noticed.

“I said I was very clear that we are looking forward to working with each of our democratic colleagues of the Senate. Each of those who pushed back against the Trump administration. Each of them. It is very clear, “Jeffries said.

MSNBC Panel Grills Schumer for supporting GOP spending account

So Jeffries had the fine line to walk. Burns the interim expenditure account. Show rank-and-file democrats how unhappy he was with what the Senate did. But be careful with what he says about Schumer.

But as we said, which is unspoken, often speaks the hardest. Jeffries demonstrated his dissatisfaction. But to be honest, Jeffries didn’t have to say much. Just return to the Capitol said everything. And immediately after he has received an earful from House Democrats about Schumer’s maneuver, Jeffries may have scored a few points.

So back to the questions at the house Democratic Leadership Press Conference …

Mark Warner

“Is it time for new leadership in the Senate?” And does Jeffries have “lost confidence” in Schumer?

The second interrogative is not that important. Democrats National – if not Senate Democrats – will determine what they want to do with Schumer. If there is something.

Sen. Mark Warner, D-VA., Gathered against the Interim Expenditure Act. Warner was torn apart because he represents so many federal employees North -Virginia.

Democrats are going to Schumer for ‘betrayal’ of the cladding with Trump

“Are you going to issue a statement about Schumer’s leadership?” A Warner reporter asked after the vote to finance the government.

“Is leader Schumer the right leader at the moment,” another asked.

“I have faith in Chuck Schumer,” Warner replied.

Scribes asked similar questions from senator Martin Heinrich, DN.M., after the mood.

“We also have to find out how we can use our leverage,” Heinrich said.

Schumer and Trump

Democrats may not be able not to stop the “big, beautiful” spending plan of President Trump to clean up the congress – just as undesirable for them, is the fault for a government’s closure. (AP/Getty images)

In other words, some Democrats believed that the interim expenditure account was a bending point. They may not be able to prevent President Trump and Congress Republicans from approving the “large, beautiful bill” to lower the expenses and lower taxes. But they could have closed the government by filibusing the spending plan because it does not reflect great democratic priorities. They had to get up.

“Leader Schumer has been very effective in many fights. But these are new times,” Heinrich said. “Second gambling leader Schumer here will not achieve the kind of unity that we need to get up the president. So we will have that conversation in the caucus.”

The Senate is now out until next week. That can cool some tensions. But it can also make them worse. Schumer was supposed to go on tour this week and to promote his book ‘Anti -Semitism in America’. Performances in Baltimore and Washington are now being canceled “due to security problems”.

Anyway, it is possible that dissonance about Schumer’s leadership may have overshadowed everything he could say about anti -Semitism in his coming book.

Schumer rejects possible AOC primary challenge, says he focuses on downing Trump’s figures

Some Democrats call on Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-CortezDn.y .. to primary Schumer if he runs for a different term in 2028.

Should Senaatdemocrats try to expel Schumer? Good luck with that. In the House of Representatives, the entire membership chooses the speaker. He or she is the constitutional officer of the legislative branch of the government. In the Senate, the positions of majority and minority leader are determined by their respective party cauces or conferences – behind closed doors. That is why there is no “motion to leave the chair” like in the house. The real power of the majority leader stems from the habit of the Senate who first recognizes the majority leader – for the 99 others.

The Senate has only removed one party leader in recent memory. And that was not even done on the floor. The administration of President George W. Bush and other Republicans have beaten the former Senate majority leader Trent Lott, R-Miss. Lott made comments that suggest that the nation would have been better off with the deceased Senator Strom Thurmond, RS.C., and part of his racist policy measures if he had won the presidency.

The truth is told, some Republicans were just looking for a reason to dump Lott. And so Lott left in favor of the former Senate majority leader Bill Frist, R-tenn.

It is possible that the spending law Filibuster -Voting may now have Democrats who want to dump Schumer. There is now a growing gap between Schumer and Liberal Democrats.

Democrats wage internal warfare – while the Republicans seem united behind President Trump. And the distance between some Democrats is now a lot wider than a few blocks in Brooklyn.
