NFL News: Zach Wilson hopeful for starting Quarterback opportunities still

Former New York Jets Quarterback Zach Wilson is ready to embrace the backup position in Miami, but he is not yet ready to embrace the title of “Journeyman”.

The former second general choice from Byu returned to the AFC East in the low season for a one -year -old deal with the Miami Dolphins – The same division that saw Wilson’s career as a starting quarterback in the NFL ended almost as quickly as it started.

Wilson, 25, was traded in New York after three turbulent seasons and saw no action during the 2024 season with the Denver Broncos as the third snarige Quarterback. He boarded the depth card in Miami, but for Wilson he hopes that there is still a chance to return as a starter.

“I mean, I would like to look at it differently,” Wilson told reporters on Monday when he was asked if he embraces the “Journeyman Label”. ”

“It is clear that there is nothing wrong with being a travel man, but I still believe that I can be a starter in this competition when that chance comes. And so I just try to place myself in the best situation with the best team and coaches and do it absolutely the best I can and hopefully at some point you can get that opportunity to show what you could do.”

Wilson was in his second season with the Jets, a movement that would free the way for four -fold League MVP Aaron Rodgers. But a seasonal injury for Rodgers would give Wilson a chance.

Although he did not turn it around, Wilson said that his time with the Broncos spent the time to develop and improve, and he hopes that his time will do the same in Miami.

“What’s not fun, right? Extremely explosive attack, and I think they are doing great, and the coach (Mike) McDaniel starts and goes all the way down. I would just say that the attacking staff as a whole did great work. Back (touch) The development has also disappeared since he has been there, and I think I am just excited to be with those guys. “
