NFL Draft Prospect Desmond Watson wants to write history


Defensive Lineman Desmond Watson showed his football skills for scouts on the Florida Gators’ NFL Pro Day on Thursday.

Watson, which is mentioned on 464 pounds, wants to write NFL history. If a franchise Watson selects in next month’s design, he would become the heaviest player who was drawn up in competition history.

Watson did not speak with the media after he had gone through a few exercises in GaineSville on Thursday. But Watson’s teammates and coaches spoke on his behalf and praised the NFL Draft Prospect for what he could achieve during his time at the Gators.

“He moves much better than everyone thought he would be to his size,” said colleague defending Tackle Joey Slackman. “I don’t see why a team would not give him a chance. He is through and through a football player; I would like that guy in my team.”

Watson’s size and strength stood out during perhaps the most important day in his professional journey.

“These, of course, he is a unicorn,” said coach Billy Napier in Florida. “You will go for the rest of your career, and you will never be with a man who is that shape. And then you get to know this. He is extremely intelligent. He has a great sense of humor. He was a great teammate.

“Of course, today appeared in good condition, so he will get his chance, and I hope he will make the best of it.”

Watson was mentioned on 449 pounds last season, an increase of 435 pounds as a junior and 415 pounds as second -year -olds. He had to manage his weight because he first stepped on the campus in 2021, then then coach then Mullen called him ‘an athlete of 385 pounds’.

“He has countless nutritionists, countless position coaches, countless power coaches and I think we probably did the best that we have this last year,” Napier said. “And I thought he played his best football of his career. In general, I think he learned a lot about building habit, self -discipline.

“Ultimately, the man’s frame score would indicate that he will be a huge. That number will always be quite large. He is 6-foot-6 and only the density, the bone structure. It’s just a big man.”

Watson has never missed a competition in his four seasons in GaineSville. However, his highlights are little in between.

He fell on in South Florida and ran back Brian Bottie in 2022 and tore out the ball South Carolina Later that year you run back Jaheim Bell’s hands for a forced mess and a messy return. Watson would probably have scored if Quarterback Spencer Rattler missed an open field Tackle.

Watson ended his collegial career with 63 tackles and 1.5 bags.

Offensive rulers Trent Brown and Daniel Falele are the heaviest NFL players who have been drawn up so far. Both players were 380 pounds.
