Newcastle welcomes Brighton to St James’ Park for the second time this season as they clash for a FA Cup quarter -finals.
The Seagulls have already triumphed once in the northeast this season, hitting Magpies 1-0 in October with the courtesy of a Danny Welbeck target.
But Eddie Howe is determined to put an end to Newcastle’s endless drought, having made multiple finals and not get his team over the line.
Much of the speech around this game was around whether Alexander Isak would be suitable enough to drive the line, and Howe admitted that Newcastle is much better chance against Brighton with him.
He said: “I think with Alex, it’s quite clear to me if it is suitable for any game that leads to the EFL Cup final then he will play and we must have this mentality with all our players.
“You can’t save the players as they will lose pace. The best thing for a player to stay in good form and remain appropriate is to play them and that will try to do with all our players.”
Eddie Howe in FA Cup:
“It’s a huge competition. We know its significance, we don’t get it slightly. This will be a difficult game, Brighton is in excellent form, this should be a really fascinating tie. Their long form was very strong, it will be a test for us, but an ego … pic.twitter.com/xpkz9y32ZC

“I think of course when it doesn’t play, the team has a completely different appearance. It’s still a team that can be successful but they should do it in a different way.
“Alex has standout properties. We have shaped our game in its properties. It is an excellent talent and has skills and skills and a way of playing that makes us better in my opinion and that is not disrespectful to anyone we have.”
Meanwhile, Brighton leader Fabian Hurzeler is on a mission to make fans proud of the club, though he stopped promising a title.
He added: “First of all, this is my job. I always try to give everything for the club and, of course, I always want the club to be the most successful we can be.
“This is my job, along with staff and players, and therefore we try this.
“We promise everyone that we will try to give everything on the pitch and next to the stadium to make them proud, but we cannot promise to win a title.
“This is the thing we have to work on and the thing we are trying to do in our daily behavior and then we will see what comes in the future.”

There are some good news for Newcastle fans, as Howe Isak, Sven Botman and Joelinton admitted on Sunday.
During the pre-agon press conference, he said: “I think Callum Wilson is okay. He got a cut in his eye but nothing more than that. The fingers crossed are fine.”
“They (Botman and Joelinton) have the opportunity (to play on Sunday). Today is a great day for them. We will see how they are and if they are trained with the team for the first time or not. Knowing both players, they will be very willing to participate.
“We’ll see today. I haven’t seen him (ISAK) from the game. We’ll see how it is today. We do not believe it is a long -term problem. There was no danger on Wednesday and there can be no one with the stage of the season we are.
“There is always a risk with any player, but we will not take risks to his long -term ability. We will see how he is today and if he is appropriate, he will play.”
Brighton was not so much luck. They will still be without Joel Veltman, Jason Stele, Ferdi Kadioglu, James Milner and Igor Julio.
Captain Lewis Dunk hoped to make his return against Newcastle, but Hurzeler confirmed that the game on Sunday will be very early.
He said: “So far, there is no other change. Let’s hope it remains so. Of course we look forward to returning our ruler (Dunk), but I think the game on Sunday will be a little too early.”

Newcastle vs brighton forecast
It’s really the game of someone in Tyneside this weekend.
Newcastle showed flashes of brilliance that won them a point in the Champions League two seasons ago, but the Magpies were also vulnerable.
Howe’s side actually had a good thing against Liverpool in the middle week, especially without Isak.
Meanwhile, seagulls finally find form under Hurzeler and will support themselves to make the double above their opponents in St James’ Park.
A tie and possibly extra time and sanctions could be on the cards, but we support the hosts to simply hear the south coast side.
Forecast: Newcastle 3-2 Brighton
