New Jersey Republican calls out Biden administration over drone response


Rep. Chris Smith, RN.J., called out the Biden administration during a press conference on Saturday about the recent drone sightings which has shocked US officials.

The unidentified drone sightings, which have been spotted over US military installations and homes in New Jersey since mid-November, have raised concerns in the US. the Garden State.

The planes have been there too spotted in Connecticut. On Thursday, Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., called for the drones to be “taken down” if necessary.

On Saturday, U.S. officials held a conference call with reporters and appeared to downplay concerns about the drones, saying there was no evidence the plane was linked to foreign adversaries.

Speaking from Seaside Heights, New Jersey, Smith said he asked DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas why the origins of the drones are still unknown.

“I asked Secretary Mayorkas in a briefing, a Zoom briefing, why we can’t track them and find out where they’re going,” the Republican told reporters. ‘They come from somewhere. … You don’t seem to be able to do that.

“Why can’t we track them and discover their origins? Many of them seem to come from the ocean.”

The representative also said he had contacted Defense Secretary Lloyd J. Austin to ask the U.S. military to authorize the use of force against the unusual drones.

“I have written to Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin asking the Pentagon to authorize the use of force to take down one or more of these unmanned threats in order to unravel the mystery and move them across the ocean , over an area where there is no population,” Smith said. . “Take them down and find out who’s doing it.”

The New Jersey politician also expressed belief that the drones may be connected to at least one foreign government.

“The elusive maneuvering of these drones, I would suggest, indicates a great sophistication of military power,” the Republican said. ‘That raises the question of whether they have been deployed to test our defense capabilities or worse, by violent dictatorships, perhaps Russia, China, Iran or North Korea.
