A little more than half of the NBA season has passed and commissioner Adam Silver’s Looking for ways to improve the competition appears in full swing.
This week, silver drove a drastic control change for the length of the quarters during NBA -Games.
The NBA plays quarters of 12 minutes. If the NBA took a silver proposal, those periods would be reduced by two minutes. Ten minutes of quarters last eight minutes from the game clock.

Silver noted that the reduction could create a more “consistent” presentation for basketball fans who watch games on TV.
“I am a fan of four quarters of 10 minutes,” Silver told “The Dan Patrick Show” when he was asked about the more drastic ideas that the NBA has considered.
“I am not sure if many others … put aside what it means for records and things like that. I think a two -hour format is more consistent with modern television hails. People in Arenas are not asked to Shorten the game, but … Like a television program, Olympic Basketball is two hours “
At one point Silver called the length of games that were played in other competitions around the world.
“The NBA is the only (basketball) competition that plays 48 minutes. … It is such a dramatic change in the game. … something like that should be spoken about it.”

During the Summer Olympic GamesBasketball matches last 40 minutes. Basketball matches in the university in the US are divided into halves of 20 minutes.
“Because this game is so worldwide, one of the things we would like to see over time is creating a more consistent number of lines worldwide around the game,” Silver said.

Silver noted that shaving two minutes of the neighborhoods could reduce the wear of players over a season of 82 game, while it could possibly help the competition in combating his “load management” problem.
“Incidentally, if you went to a 40-minute game-with the problems surrounding loading management and resting, it would be equivalent to … taking about 15 games of the season,” Silver said.
Silver made it clear that the ideas he mentioned during the exchange with Patrick were only discussed, but they were not nearly accepted.
“It’s not entirely at that level,” he said.

Silver also praised Major League Baseball To add a pitch clock. He argued that the change helped “accelerate the game”, while also held traditional aspects of the game in place.

“I am a baseball fan, and I think some of those changes have really increased some sort of involvement … the entertainment value of the game, and so I pay a lot of attention to that,” Silver said.
“And in fact I used the pitch clock … in meetings in the NBA to say … we should not be afraid to look at changes.”
