Former Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy PelosiD-California, underwent hip replacement surgery abroad on Saturday after suffering a fall in Luxembourg earlier this week, a spokesman said.
“Earlier this morning, Speaker Emerita Pelosi underwent a successful hip replacement and is on the mend,” Pelosi spokesman Ian Krager said in a statement.
“Speaker Pelosi is grateful to the U.S. Military Staff at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center at Landstuhl Army Base and the medical staff at Kirchberg Hospital in Luxembourg for their excellent care and kindness.

Pelosi, 84, tripped and fell after taking a group photo with other lawmakers and officials during a visit to Luxembourg for the Battle of the Ardennes commemorations, the Wall Street Journal reported.

“While traveling with a bipartisan congressional delegation in Luxembourg to mark the 80th anniversary of the Battle of the Ardennes, Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi suffered an injury during an official engagement and was hospitalized for evaluation,” Ian Krager, her spokesman, said in a statement Friday.
