My Chemical Romance breaks silence following death of former drummer Bob Bryar

My Chemical Romance broke their silence over the death of the former drummer Bob Briar.

“The band asks for your patience and understanding as they process the news of Bob’s death,” a spokesperson for the rock band said in a statement on Sunday, Dec. 1, confirming Briar’s death, according to The BBC and Diversity.

TMZ reported on Saturday, Nov. 30, that Briar was found dead in his home in Tennessee days earlier on Tuesday, Nov. 26. He was 44 years old.

According to the publication, Brayar was last seen on November 4 and the cause of his death is unclear. According to TMZ, no foul play is suspected.

Bryar joined My Chemical Romance in 2004, replacing the original drummer Matt Pelissier. “Four weeks ago, My Chemical Romance and Bob Bryar parted ways,” rhythm guitarist Frank Iero said in a statement posted on the band’s website in March 2010. “This was a painful decision for all of us to make and it was not taken lightly. We wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors and expect all of you to do the same.”

In the years since his departure from MCR, Bryar worked on other music projects before reportedly transitioning to a career in real estate.

Speaking of Alternative press in 2016 Bryar shared details of his early days as part of My Chemical Romance and knowing the band was “special” from the start.

“I left a very good gig on tour where I was managing the tour and doing sound. I left that job to join a gang that was dirty, had n… gear, a beat up, smoking van with a death trap and was poor. They also smelled bad. I was so happy to get the offer,” he told the publication. “Long before we recorded ‘Welcome to the Black Parade,’ I knew they (MCR) were special and I wanted to be involved. I wanted to help grow the band and be able to crash with them every night.”
