Mumbai achieved the feat in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024-25 match against Andhra Pradesh. The Shreyas Iyer-led team chased down a record target of 230 runs and ensured they qualified for the knockouts of the tournament after their 4-wicket win.
After Andhra Pradesh posted a mammoth total of 229 runs, Mumbai pulled off the magic with the bat. Openers Ajinkya Rahane and Prithvi Shaw made sure to give their team a strong start with the bat and put the opposition under immense pressure.

Ajinkya Rahane was well supported by skipper Shreyas Iyer, who played a cameo 25 runs off 11 balls, hitting three sixes, and Shivam Dube. The all-rounder played a brutal innings with 34 runs off 18 balls and batted at a strike rate of over 189, hitting 3 fours and 2 sixes.

In the end, it was Suryansh Shedge, who played the finisher’s role to perfection. The right-hander played an unbeaten innings of 30 runs from just 8 balls. He batted at a strike rate of 357 and also hit 2 fours and 3 sixes in his innings which led Mumbai to victory with three balls to spare.

With the chase, Mumbai broke Pondicherry’s previous high chase of 227 runs against Andhra in 2021. Baroda are the only other side to have chased down a 220-plus target, achieving the feat during a 222-run chase against Tamil Nandu in Indore last week.
