After a prolonged absence due to injury, the fast -paced Mohammed Shami is set to return to the Indian team for the five -match T20i series against England, starting on January 22 in Calcutta. Shami, who recently played for India in the ODI World Cup final in November 2023, underwent ankle surgery and fighting knee -related issues during the recovery period.
The road to Shami’s recovery
Since returning to the competitive cricket in November 2024, Shami has presented his durability and form. It was also presented in the nine Bengal races at the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, supporting 11 Wickets with a financial rate of 7.85. While he played fewer matches at Trophy Vijay Hazare, his appearances were commendable, with five Wickets on average 25.80. Despite the guess of returning to the India test team during Australia’s tour, the repeated knee swelling delayed his return. Now fully adapted, Shami’s integration adds depth and experience to rhythm attack.

Program and challenges in front
India will face England in five t20iS in Calcutta, in Chennai, Rajkot, Pune and Mumbai between January 22 to February 2. The series serves as a critical preparation for Trophy Champions since February 19th.
After T20IS, India will host three Odis in Nagpur (February 6), Cuttack (February 9) and Ahmedabad (February 12). These races will be India’s only ODI before the Marquee ICC event.
