Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold Liverpool contracts: Positive talks between club and trio over new deals | Football News

Talks between Liverpool and the representatives of Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold are continuing to offer them new contracts.

The dialogue was, however, very positive and progressed with negotiations conducted with great respect from all sides.

Liverpool want to do right by the players, but also by the club. It was very obvious that Salah and Van Dijk want to stay. They have been clear about that and Salah’s comments to the press really underline this desire of how much he wants to stay at Liverpool.

Things are heating up as Chris Boyd and Paul Merson discuss whether Liverpool should agree a new three-year contract with Salah.

He loves the city, his daughters go to school here. He doesn’t want to change. He wants to become a Liverpool legend and continue to break the records he has set.

The same goes for Van Dijk. He wants to keep driving Liverpool forward.

Merse questions Liverpool’s delay in signing new deals for Salah, Alexander-Arnold and Van Dijk, calling reluctance ‘criminal’

The contrast is with Alexander-Arnold, who has huge interest from Real Madrid.

His recent comments about wanting to win the Ballon d’Or, which sing a lot of that Real Madrid anthem – are their sales pitch players, to go win it at their club.

With Alexander-Arnold it will take a bit more elbow grease from Liverpool.

Liverpool boss Arne Slott insists he was joking after making a comment about Salah’s future at Anfield.

He may be much more expensive to land this deal given his age and what he means to the club as an academy graduate as well. It would count as net profit on the books, so it’s a bit more of a complicated situation.

You get the feeling that with Van Dijk and Salah wanting to stay, the club wanting to find a solution, there could be a great little Christmas present for Liverpool fans – and that you might see Van Dijk ahead of Christmas tree again as a copy of when he first signed in December 2017.
