Missing Missouri mother found dead, boyfriend charged with murder: police


A missing Missouri woman was found dead and her boyfriend was charged with murder related to her death.

According to the Barry County Sheriff’s OfficeAaron Malone, 23, was charged with the murder of his girlfriend, Aspen Lewis, 24.

Court records obtained by FOX 4 Kansas City show that Malone contacted Barry County sheriff’s deputies on Monday, November 25, to report Lewis’ possible kidnapping.

Investigators said when they went to the residence, they saw a large blood stain on the roadway behind Malone’s truck, along with jewelry.

Officials said Lewis was last seen with her Exeter residence early in the morning of November 25.

Malone provided officers with an oral and written statement regarding Lewis’ disappearance. However, officials said that due to inconsistencies with Malone’s statement, a criminal investigation has been launched.

Authorities told FOX 4 they obtained surveillance video that showed Malone’s vehicle arriving at Lewis’ home just before midnight on Sunday, Nov. 24, and screams could be heard not long after.

The video shows Malone leaving around 1:30 a.m. Monday morning and returning just after 4 a.m., according to court records.

Before returning to Lewis’ home, Malone called 911, FOX 4 reported.

A day later, authorities met with Malone, who told them he would take them to where Lewis’ body was located.

Officials said her body was in a wooded area, covered in leaves and sticks and had extensive head trauma.

According to court records, Malone later admitted that an altercation had occurred and that he had disposed of Lewis’ body.

Malone was arraigned in Barry County Court and pleaded not guilty Monday morning. He is being held in the Stone County Jail without bond.

Lewis is survived by a young son and was described as “a very spiritual person” who loved animals and the outdoors, according to her obituary.
