Miley Cyrus gets emotional about the Los Angeles wildfires after the 2018 disaster

The ongoing Pacific Palisades wildfires can be especially difficult for people like Miley Cyruswho have previously lost property in similar natural disasters.

“This image hit me hard in the heart today. This is a photo taken from my front porch in 2018 after we lost our house in the Woolsey fires,” Cyrus, 32, wrote on social media message on Saturday, January 11, sharing a photo of the wreckage. “It’s a feeling you never forget. Walking up to the door you will walk through every day, looking forward to being greeted by those you love as always, but instead being greeted by a pile of ashes and rubble.

Cyrus continued: “My heart aches for those experiencing this devastation (sic) firsthand and I cry for my city. This is beyond heartbreaking. Los Angeles represents ‘living the dream,’ but the reality today is rubble and destruction.”

The Grammy winner too share a link to the Malibu Foundation, a nonprofit that helps victims recover from wildfires, and a handful of other GoFundMe campaigns for specific victims.

Cyrus and Hemsworth had evacuated with their menagerie of pets.

“My brother Luka called and said, “Get ready, they’re going to announce an evacuation.” The whole time I was collecting these animals, I had moments where I said to myself, “It won’t go that far; it’s a waste of time and my house won’t burn down,” Hemsworth remembered for Men’s health in a 2020 profile “And of course it really burned and it was like… something you had to go through.”

While the then-couple and their animals were safe, he added to the outlet that “pretty much everything” had left in the house was “substitutable to a point.”
