Geno Auriemma took a wipe to the NCAA Tournament system while he UConn Huskies For their Sweet 16 match against the Oklahoma Sooners.
The women’s basketball tournament moved to two regional locations in 2023, which means that this season the regional semi -finals and finals will take place in Birmingham, Alabama or Spokane, Washington.
Eight teams are crammed into every regional site.

The Final four of women Culminates in Tampa, Florida, next month.
Auriemma expressed his contempt for the two regionals during a press conference and said, “It ruined the game.”
“Half of the country have no chance to get to a game personally. But you make billions of TV. Well, actually you are not. That would be the men’s tournament,” he said, Via ESPN. “So yes, there are many problems they have to solve. And again, we can defeat our A- Tomorrow and that will not change my feelings.”
Auriemma added that “in a normal world, run by normal people, there would only be four teams here.”
“There are many people in the basketball community for women who think they are smarter than (how they run things in men’s basketball).”
Auriemma pointed to the team’s travel schedule.

The Huskies completed their home schedule in the Gampel Pavilion in Storrs, Connecticut on Monday. The team then had to fly to Spokane, Washington, for the next round of the tournament. If the team wins in regional Spokane, it flies to Tampa.
Because of the number of teams, Auriemma said that his team should wake up at 7:30 am at 7.30 pm at 7.30 pm
The Auriemma team is used to strange travel situations.
Last year the team of playing matches in Storrs went to play in Portland, Oregon, Regional, and then the last four of the women in Kleveland. In 2023 the Storrs team went to Seattle before he lost in the regional semi -final.

UConn is the number 2 seed in this tournament, and Oklahoma is the No. 3 Seed. The teams give on Saturday at 5:30 pm et. Et.
