Tony RuizCEO of Mango, announced the death of Andic in a statement shared via the brand’s website.
“It is with deep regret that we announce the unexpected death of Isak Andic, our non-executive chairman and founder of Mango, in an accident that occurred this Saturday,” Ruiz wrote. “Isaac was an example to all of us. He dedicated his life to Mango, leaving an indelible mark through his strategic vision, inspirational leadership and unwavering commitment to the values he himself instilled in our company.”
The statement added: “His legacy reflects the achievements of a business project marked by success and also by his human qualities, his closeness and the care and affection he always had and at all times conveyed to the entire organization.” His departure leaves a huge void, but we are all in some way his legacy and a testament to his achievements.
Hollywood mourned many celebrities in 2024. Speed Racer star Christian Oliver (born Christian Klepser) died at the age of 51 in a fatal plane crash on January 5. Oliver was returning home from a Caribbean vacation with his two daughters – Madita and Anique, who he shares with wife Jessica Klepser – on January 4. (…)
Ruiz also noted that the remaining members of the Mango team will “ensure that (the brand) continues to be the project that Isaac strives for and that he will be proud of.”
“In these extremely difficult times, we share the family’s pain as if it were our own,” the note concluded.
Andic had fell to his death while tourism in Barcelona, according to CNN. Local police said at the exit that they had received a report that a 71-year-old man had fallen into a ravine, more than 320 feet in the air, near the Collbató caves of Salnitre. Law enforcement was dispatched to the area to retrieve the body, CNN reports. Police sources later told the publication that the body was Andic’s.
Spanish officials also paid tribute to Andic’s death.
“All my affection and recognition for your great work and business vision that have turned this Spanish brand into a world reference in fashion,” said the Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez wrote.
Mango is one of the largest fashion retailers in Europe, with stores located in over 120 markets.
