The nominee of President Donald Trump for FBI Director, Kash PatelCalls leaders to weaken powerful career bureaucrats in Washington, referring to them as part of the “deep state” and politically motivated federal researchers, in particular, as “gangsters”.
If confirmed, he can be the one who leads those reforms.
Nicole Parker, a former FBI special agent who has spent more than 12 years at the desk, has a few ideas about where to start.
“There was a tangible break between the line agents and leadership in Washington, DC,” she told Fox News Digital. “These observations inform my conviction that the FBI is currently suffering from a clear lack of leadership and that the future of the FBI will be directly tied to how the next director will solve the problems of the agency.”

Patel outlined some of his criticism of alleged corruption within “the permanent government bureaucracy” in a book from 2023, “Government gangsters: The Deep State, The Truth and the battle for our democracy.”
Parker, who said she does not know Patel personally, said Fox News Digital that the next director will be given the task of restoring the “credibility” of the FBI in public interest after years of accusations that some studies are politically motivated to conservatives aim, including Trump himself.
She identified five areas where she believes that a new director can have an impact on his first day at work.
“On the first day, the next FBI director Must start implementing a plan to restore integrity within the agency, “she said Fox News Digital.
1. Bring new brass inside
“The first, most crucial task is to appoint solid leaders in the executive team and during the entire FBI,” she said.
Candidates must be strong leaders with the emphasis on integrity.

They must be dedicated to “strict compliance with the Constitution, rather than (on) personal prejudices and agendas and diversity,” she said.
2. Reform ‘internal culture’
The agency should concentrate more on the needs of victims, Parker said.
“The administrative headquarters in Washington, DC, must be cut and the authority to select and investigate things must be returned to the field,” she added. “The agency also needs a shift in its culture to concentrate exclusively on the best serving of the American people and protecting them at all costs. No superfluous distractions may be tolerated.”
FBI has long been accused of politicization prior to DEM delivery about the nomination of Kash Patel
3. Accountability and consequences
“Inappropriate actions” and insufficient task performance should be experienced with “tangible consequences,” Parker said.
Despite accusations of armed investigations, she said that the agency is still staffed with dedicated agents “who keep the line” and earn support.
“Those who choose not to maintain their constitutional Eden must be held responsible,” she added.

In a 2022 Op-ED for Fox News DigitalPatel called for a committee to take the FBI and the Ministry of Justice with them to the task for alleged abuse of power against conservatives.
“The politicization of the FBI in a partisan tool to punish the enemies of the Democrats and to protect their friends is a threat that endangers our republic and requires the immediate attention of the congress,” he wrote at the time. “They have created a two -tone system of justice; we have to undo it.”
4. Increase the recruitment standards
As part of the mission to build the public image of the FBI, Parker said that recruitment and promotions should be raised into ‘the highest in FBI history’.
In his book, Patel called for more supervision of the congress and the dismissing of “corrupt actors” in the FBI.
“The fact is that we need a federal agency that investigates federal crimes, and that agency will always run the risk of abusing its powers,” ” he wrote.

5. Cut waste expenditure
The FBI budget request in Fiscal 2025 was looking for more than $ 11.3 billion.
The agency has more than 37,000 employees, of whom are around 13,600 agents.
Parker had a recommendation that could take some time before a new director could be reached: visiting the FBI field offices throughout the country.
Patel took a step forward in his book and argued that FBI leadership should go outside the Beltway.
“Keep the FBI in its colossus Washington HQ By building alone, establishing institutional and senior leadership in FBI can encourage focus on losing their mission and learning how they can play political games instead, favor with politicians and cultivating relationships with the press to their career to promote, “he wrote.

“Understand the unique needs and worries of rank-and-file better,” said Parker. “Make sure that the electricity that is now concentrated on the FBI head office is not more complete in the field, time the bloated bureaucracy at the head office and sending agents and staff back to the field to do research.”
Just like his direct predecessors, Patel has a legal background, but is not a former agent. However, he was the main investigator in a conference investigation into accusations of Fisa -Abuse At the FBI during the Russian interference study 2016.
Trump described his candidate as a talented researcher and reformer when he announced the nomination of Patel within a few weeks of winning elections to a second term. Although critics have challenged the experience and proximity of Patel to the president, supporters consider him a reformer who will improve the agency.

He noted that Patel had tried more than 60 cases as a lawyer and emphasized other parts of his CV.
Patel was a federal public prosecutor who dealt with foreign terror issues with the Ministry of Justice and started his career as a lawyer for public defense. And he served in a number Ministry of Defense and white house roles during the first Trump government, including as a senior director for the fight against terrorism on the National Security Council and as staff chief of former acting secretary of Defense Christopher Miller.
“This FBI will put an end to the growing crime epidemic in America, dismantle the criminal gangs of the migrants and stop the bad scourge of human and drug trafficking across the border,” Trump continued. “Kash will work under our great attorney general, Pam Bondi, to bring faithfulness, courage and integrity back to the FBI.”
