Luigi Mangione, the man accused of killing the CEO of UnitedHealthcare Brian Thompson, He will reportedly be housed in the same New York prison as Sean “Diddy” Combs.

Mangione, 26, arrived in New York from Pennsylvania on Thursday, December 19, to stand trial on federal murder charges. If convicted of the crime, he could face the death penalty.

According to CNN and ABC News, Mangione is now in federal custody and will be housed at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, the same prison where Combs, 55, has been held since September.

Mangione and Combs also have another connection; the couple they share the same lawyerMark Anifilo. Agnifilo appeared in federal court with his wife Karen Friedman Agnifilo on Thursday to inform Judge Catherine Parker that they would represent Mangione.

A spokesman for Friedman Agnifilo’s firm, Agnifilo Intrater LLP, confirmed the Us Weekly on Monday, Dec. 16, that she was retained to represent Mangione in New York. Friedman Agnifilo “will not be making any statements at this time,” the spokesman said us.

Mangione was named as the prime suspect in Thompson’s death earlier this month. Thompson was fatally shot outside a Manhattan hotel on December 4. After a five-day manhunt, Mangione was arrested on December 9.

A New York grand jury indicted Mangione on terrorism charges on Tuesday, Dec. 17, in addition to first-degree murder. He was also charged with possession of weapons and forged instruments.

Federal prison consultant Sam Mangel explained earlier on us what are the conditions like at MDC given that contraband and anything with sharp edges or pins are prohibited in the facility.

Visitor stays typically last 30 minutes and are limited to four people at a time, while phone calls are limited to 15 minutes.

Mangel added that the staff gives inmates time in the closed recreation yard to play sports tournaments and they can freely enjoy dominoes, chess and card games. Religious services are usually offered and televisions are on and tuned to major sporting events.

Mangione has dominated the headlines in recent weeks, with reports that a documentary already in progress. Film director Stephen Robert Morsebest known for his work at Netflix Amanda Knoxdevelops the project.

Meanwhile, Combs has been behind bars since his arrest earlier this year.

In March 2024 several of Combs’ homes—including residences in Miami and Los Angeles—were raided by Homeland Security in connection with a sex-trafficking investigation. In September, Combs was arrested in New York and indicted on charges of sex trafficking and racketeering and transportation for the purpose of engaging in prostitution. He denied all the charges against him. (His trial is scheduled to begin in May 2025.)

More than 20 civil lawsuits have been filed against Combs since his arrest, and he has denied all charges.

After Didi was arrested, Agnifilo said during an appearance on CNN The Source with Kaitlan Collins that his client is not guilty. “He’s innocent,” Agnifilo said. “I believe he is innocent. I believe he is innocent of the charges,” he said. “He will be brought to justice. And I believe he will win.”
