Lisa Kudrow fears an uncertain future as artificial intelligence is becoming increasingly popular in Hollywood.
During a recent appearance on the “Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard” podcast, she discussed the recent film “Here,” directed by Robert Zemeckis and starring Tom Hanks and Robin Wright. The film used AI to have the stars play the same characters from their teenage years to old age.
“They shot it, and they were able to actually film the scene and then watch it as a younger person, and it’s ready for them to see,” Kudrow said.
She continued, “And the one thing I took away from that is this is a show of support for AI and oh my god. It’s not like, ‘Oh, it’s going to ruin everything,’ but what’s left? Forget actors, What about up-and-coming actors? They will only license and recycle.”

WHAT IS ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (AI)?
Kudrow also worried about the impact of AI beyond the entertainment industry.
“Put that aside altogether, what work will there be for man? What then? There will be some kind of livelihood for the people, you don’t have to work? How can that ever be enough?’
Hanks confirmed the use of AI in the movie last month when he appeared on the “Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend” podcast.
“You’re going to do a data scan, and then they match it to every photo that exists of me, and they go back and find as many photos of me as possible at the age of 17, 18, 19… my whole life. they hinder those when using, are you ready, the scary word. They use AI to do all the work and make it happen faster,” he said.

The “Forrest Gump” star continued, “We had two monitors while we were shooting. One monitor was what we really look like, and the other monitor with a delay time of about a nanosecond was us in the deep fake technology. On one monitor I’m a 67-year-old man pretending to be in high school, and on the other monitor I’m 17.”
Not Henk seem just as concerned by AI, saying, “It’s just a filmmaking tool.”
“It’s not like, ‘Oh, it’s going to ruin everything,’ but what’s left?”
He noted that to do the kind of work seen in “Here,” in which we played characters of different ages, “we still had to sit in the makeup trailer for hours because we had to have wigs and hair.”
Instead of the motion capture dots often seen on actors’ faces in behind-the-scenes footage, Hanks revealed that the technology used in “Here” could “use the pores of your face to to fit’.

The Oscar winner also noted another impact AI had on their performance.
“Because we also had to look at the timing and the cadence of it and things like that, there’s a factor… we thought we were talking at a very realistic cadence, and then we went to watch a playback and it was as slow as molasses,” he explained.
“All it is is a filmmaking tool.”
The ‘Captain Phillips’ star added: ‘It didn’t make it any more fun to sit there and look at ourselves dressed the way we were.’
Hanks has had to warn fans about fake ads featuring his name, likeness and vote via AI to promote products.

In August, he posted a statement on Instagram saying, “There are multiple advertisements on the Internet falsely using my name, likeness and voice to promote miracle cures and cures. These advertisements were created without my consent, fraudulently and through AI.”
He continued, “I have nothing to do with these posts or the productions and treatments, or the spokespeople promoting these treatments. I have type 2 diabetes and I ONLY work with my board certified physician regarding my treatment. LEAVE YOU DON’T BE DONE. Don’t lose your hard-earned money.”
