Lala Kent not on good terms with most of her Vanderpump Rules costars – but she formed a surprising bond with Tom Schwartz.
On the Wednesday, December 4 episode of the Turning the Tables podcast.Kent, 34, said she was “really close” with Schwartz, 42, after being asked about his and Tom Sandovals restaurant Schwartz & Sandy’s.
“He let me know that if we didn’t close by the end of the month, we would certainly close by the end of the year,” she recalled. “And it’s really sad for me because I think it really had a lot of potential.”
Kent blamed the fallout from Sandoval’s affair with Rachel “Raquel” Lewis about the restaurant’s closure, adding: “But this whole scandal has changed people’s lives. So it’s sad that he had to deal with the consequences of someone else’s actions.”
The update on Kent and Schwartz’s relationship came as a surprise given the numerous feuds among the cast. Kent, in particular, has been open about being at odds with colleagues, including Sandoval, Ariana Maddix, Katie Maloney and former OG cast members Brittany Cartwright and Kristen Dout.
Earlier this year, Kent revealed she had previously fallen out with Cartwright, 34, over babysitting.
“Don’t text my mom the day I find out we’re having a girl and say, ‘Did you really hire our nanny without our permission?'” Kent said at the May meeting of Vanderpump Rulesreferring to Cartwright’s ex Jax Taylor. “First, you’re in Kentucky with (your son) Cruz, and she said, ‘I’ve got Jax yelling at me.’ And I said, ‘Well, then you have to get Jax to call me so I can call him instead. eaten alive.’
Kent was also irritated by the use of a nanny versus a babysitter.
“People like to get real Hollywood fast and call babysitters nannies. Babysitter and nanny? A lot of different things,” she added. “If it wasn’t for Brittany, my mom would have slapped that face the next time she saw her. My 63 year old fucking mother is being interrogated by a kentucky muffin. Are you kidding me?’
The couple they have since reconciled but Kent is still not on good terms with Maloney, 38, and Maddix, 39, after they didn’t see eye-to-eye during filming of season 11 of Vanderpump Rules. According to Kent, her frustration with the duo was specifically that they weren’t more honest while the cameras were rolling last summer.
“I’ll be honest with Ariana. She goes through every damn season. And we’re asking you to have a conversation with Tom Sandoval — the guy you’ve been shoving down our throats for so many years,” Kent said on an episode of the Vanderpump Rules After Show in May. “That guy you still live with. We’re asking you to have a conversation and you can’t do it?”
Most recently, Kent confirmed his friendship with Maloney it had “run its course”.

“They all have a really special place in my heart. I had a really fun time with Ariana when I was on the show the first time. Katie, my friendship with her (during) season 10, I thought that friendship was really on point,” she noted on her podcast in August. “When I think back, I’m like, ‘Wow, even though it was a difficult time in my life, this friendship really got me through a difficult time in my life.’
Kent continued: “Katie and I were very close. I don’t think we have anything in common now and that’s OK. I don’t even know what we would talk about (now). We’re just in such different places and I think this friendship was meant to be what it was for now. I think that’s perfectly OK. I have only fond memories of this friendship. I have only fond memories of the friendship I had with Ariana and Dot. But people change and move on.”
The distance between the costars appears to have played a factor in Bravo’s decision to Vanderpump Rules to have a plaster overhaul. production starts next year with Lisa Vanderpump and a whole new batch of servers from SUR.
