Kelly Stafford wonders if this is the end for husband Matthew Stafford after LA Rams lose 837

Kelly Stafford praise your husband Matthew Staffordafter the Los Angeles Rams were defeated in the divisional round of the playoffs — and wondered about possible retirement.

“There aren’t enough words to express how proud I am,” Kelly, 35, wrote via Instagram on Monday, January 20. “Just kidding we’re old and tired but honestly I could never get tired of seeing you out there or watching our girls cheer for their dad.”

Kelly also shared a carousel of photos from the game against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, January 19. In one image, Kelly and Matthew’s daughters surrounded the 36-year-old Rams quarterback as he leaned down to talk to them. (Kelly and Matthew, who married in 2015, share four daughters: twins Chandler and Sawyer, born in March 2017, Hunter, born in August 2018, and Tyler, born in June 2020.)

“I wonder if this is the end or not… I guess we’ll find out,” Kelly concluded.

After the loss, Mathew shared that he would “take some time to think” about his NFL future. “But I feel like I played a pretty good ball,” Matthew told reporters on Sunday. When asked if he had any football left in him, Matthew replied: “It sure feels like it.”

Before the game, Kelly and their four daughters were seen giving Matthew words of encouragement on the pitch. Matthew dropped to one knee and hugged his daughters as Kelly leaned into the crowd. “Pregame group hug for the Stafford family,” NFL official Instagram account wrote above a post on Sunday.

Kelly and their daughters were by Matthew’s side during the NFL season, even while fighting the disease. After the Rams’ game against the Minnesota Vikings on Jan. 13 was moved, the Rams organization arranged a plane for the team and their families to travel together to the game.

“We were sick on that flight,” Kelly admitted on the Jan. 15 episode of her Morning After podcast. “There was a huge guilt factor to me saying, “Do we have to be on this plane right now for the sake of everyone around us and everyone who has to play this game?”

Before Kelly and her daughters got on the planeshe turned to others in the Ram family for advice. “They were like, ‘Get your ass on that plane.’ We all have to be together,” Kelly said. “That was such an amazing thing for me to hear because it was like, ‘Should I just stay with my kids?'”

Matthew also insisted that Kelly and the girls travel with him to the game. “Matthew said, ‘No, we’ll do whatever it takes.’ We all get on this plane. We’re going to be together right now,” Kelly said.

Despite the hesitation, Kelly was ultimately glad he attended the game — which the Rams won. “That win, other than the Super Bowl (in 2022), was probably my favorite win as a Ram,” Kelly said.
