Katie Taylor has reached a time when most fighters are far away.
She will return 39 days before she enters the ring for her monumental trilogy with Amanda Serrano at Madison Square Garden.
Taylor is already a myth in the sport. An Olympic champion, a superstar in Ireland, an undisputed world champion in the light and over-lighter, who has alerted his unique professional defeat.
Taylor acknowledged that retirement is on the horizon.
“Obviously you only get one race at a time. I know I can’t do it forever and I don’t want to do that forever, I don’t want to get punches for the rest of my life. But here I am ready for another huge,” Taylor said Sports.
“The fire has not died. I have this desire in my heart to bring the female boxing again.
“I know I have everything I need to perform well. I know I have everything and I feel like I get better and better with every show, so I can’t wait to get there.”
Taylor first Serrano in 2022 in Lightweight, winning a win with the split. They looked at the AT&T stage in Texas for WBO, WBA, WBC and IBF and IBF Super-Lightweight Championships in November. The Irish star got a recurring victory, but both competitions were imperative to watch.
They will have their third battle back at Madison Square Garden on July 11th.
“I’m so happy to have the opportunity to get the race again, another story that makes a fight, I always wanted to take part in the biggest battles, this is a huge, huge race, I hope to put an exclamation mark at the end of this show and make it 3-0 for me,
“It is amazing to see these elements and this is exactly what I want – these great battles happen, for the whole world to see what is possible for women’s fighters and to inspire the next generation of fighters.
“I hope it will be another incredible performance and another incredible showcase for women’s boxing.”
Taylor is convinced that even at this stage of her career she can continue to deliver top shows.
“I feel absolutely so wonderful right now. Obviously I get one race every time, but after the last race I knew I was ready for another, it’s about adapting and adapting, a lot, as Floyd Mayweather, Bernard Hopkins, these kids, their longevity, is incredible.
“I think I have a very smart group of people around me. We train very, very hard but also very smart. It is the reason I am in this position, still at the top of the game, I will be 39 years old, when I get into the ring then he will be crazy, but I feel great now.
