Juventus found a slow goal from Khephren Thuram and Teun Koopmeiners sealing a 2-0 win at Hellas Verona in Serie A-A fifth victory for Thiago Motta.
Juventus had 27 shots in a dominant appearance, but struggled to find a way that visited goalkeeper Lorenzo Montipo, who produced a series of savings to deny the giants.
But Thuram found a way beyond the heroic holder of Verona in the 72nd minute, with a crunchy shot from the penalty spot and replaced Koopmeiners doubled the low shot from a tight corner in the 90th minute.
Juventus is up to 52 points, six Inter Milan leaders and two over Lazio in the fifth. Verona is 14th, four points above the relegation zone.
Meanwhile, in Spain, the Monday night championship match between Villarreal and Espanyol was released due to heavy rain.
The decision was made just minutes before the Villarreal’s Estadio de la Ceramica began with thousands of spectators already on the ground.
