At the Gaines house, holiday baking is a family affair!

Joanna Gaines post video via Instagram on Thursday, Nov. 28, of her and her oldest daughter, Ella, baking during the holiday season. Filmed by Joanna, 46, the video shows 18-year-old Ella arranging as they continue their baking session, with four rows of donuts spread out on the kitchen counter.

“Late night baking with my Ella ✨#syriandonuts,” Gaines captioned her post.

Along with Ella, the Fixer Upper star shares 5 children with husband and co-star, Chip Gainesincluding Drake, 19, Duke, 16, Emmy, 14, and Crew, 6.

Baking with her mother is not the first time Ella has ventured into the family business. In a 2019 interview peopleJoanna talks about how her daughter is “just like her”.

“I think she’s going to follow in my footsteps and have a hand in a lot of things,” she told the outlet at the time. “Right now she wants to cook and be a lead designer and have a donut truck.”

As for the mother-daughter night of baking, it looks like Ella and Joanna are whipping up Syrian donuts, the recipe of which is available on the website of Gaines’ company, Magnolia, where Joanna also shared a family tip.

“My grandfather’s recipe only calls for 1 cup of sugar,” she said wrote via Magnolia. “I like anything sweeter, so I always use 2 cups. I love fennel seeds so I always use more. Not everyone likes that much of this unusual spice, so use less if you prefer.
