Formers Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey are often still asked about their relationship and previous reality series, Newlyweds.
Simpson and Lachie married in 2002. After less than four years of marriage, she filed for divorce in December 2005, citing “irreconcilable differences.”
“After three years of marriage and careful consideration and consideration, we have decided to separate,” the two said in a joint statement at the time. “This is the mutual decision of two people with enormous respect and admiration for each other. We hope you respect our privacy at this difficult time.”
They finalized their divorce in June 2006. Until Lachey started seeing his current wife Vanessa Lachey shortly after the split, Simpson was linked to Tony Romo and John Mayer before meeting possible husband Eric Johnson. In November 2010 Nick and the Simpsons announced their respectively engagements within a week of each other.
“I’m extremely, extremely happy for him,” Simpson said Ryan Seacrest at that time. “My mom actually called me and said everyone was saying I was ‘sad.’ I was just in complete shock. I couldn’t be happier for Nick.”
