“Eric and I are living separately, working through a painful situation in our marriage,” Simpson said Us Weekly in a statement on Monday, January 13. “Our children come first and we focus on what is best for them. We are grateful for all the love and support coming our way and appreciate the privacy right now as we work through this as a family.”
Simpson sparked rumors of a split in November 2024 while teasing new music. “Interviews in my music room in Nashville where I found my unique magic,” she wrote via Instagram. “This comeback is personal, it’s an apology to myself for putting up with everything I didn’t deserve it 🎶 🎼 🤍🖤.”
Although she didn’t elaborate on the struggles she went through, fans were quick to theorize that her comments were about her relationship with Johnson. “Is this j simp saying she’s single?” one user commented on the post, while another fan added: “Yeah I called that a while ago. we love you Be strong.”

Johnson added fuel to the fire when he was photographed walking around LA no wedding ring later that month, according to photos obtained by people.
Amid the drama, a source exclusively said Us Weekly that now the exes were “living apart”. A second insider added that they are “trying to work out a separation without disrupting their children’s lives as much as possible.” (The Duo share children Maxwell, 12, Ace, 11, and Birdie, 5.)
A third source noted that Jessica is “heartbroken” by the situation, saying, “(It wasn’t) an easy decision for her.”

Jessica was previously married to Nick Lachey from 2002 to 2006. She was first spotted with Johnson in 2010, the same year he split from his ex-wife, Carey D’Angelo. In November of the same year us confirmed that Johnson popped the question to Jessica after six months of dating.
Before tying the knot in July 2014, the former couple became parents with the birth of Maxwell in May 2012, followed by Ace in June 2013. They completed their family of five with the birth of Birdie in March 2019.
Johnson last appeared on Jessica’s social media in April, when she posted several photos on Instagram of the family’s spring break trip to Cabo San Lucas and Easter celebration.
“2024 Spring Breakin’ with the fam was EPIC!” she captioned Instagram photos from their tropical vacation on April 8. “Thank you @tinasimpsonofficial for giving these kids unforgettable moments in Cabo that they will hold close to their precious hearts and cherish for a lifetime!”
