The first United States lawyer who was found dead during the weekend, had suffered under a “long -standing medical issue”, Fox News learned.

The body of Jessica D. Aber, 43, was discovered on Saturday in an Alexandria, Virginia, home. Authorities have not released any details about her death, but a family friend told Fox News on Sunday that the deceased suffered from a chronic medical condition.

“The police believe that death was the result of a long -term medical issue,” said the source.

The Alexandria Police Department (APD) wrote on Saturday that it had received a phone call that morning around 9.18 am about a “non -responding woman”.

“As a matter of protocol, an investigation is underway around the circumstances of her death,” said the APD statement. “The office of the Chief Medical Examiner of Virginia will determine the cause and the way of death.”

From 2021 to 2025, Aber worked as the American lawyer for the eastern district of Virginia, after being appointed by former President Joe Biden. She got off her position on January 20, the same day that president Donald Trump In the office and called her role “an honor without a measure” in her letter of resignation.

“I am Senators Mark Warner and Tim Kaine and President Biden Deeply grateful for the possibility of leading this office and to attorney General Garland for his steadfast leadership,” the lawyer wrote. “I am proud of the work we have done with our federal, provincial and local law enforcement partners to maintain the law and to build community confidence.”

In a statement on X Saturday, the American attorney -general Pam Bondi expressed her condolences on Aber’s death.

“The loss of Jessica Aber, former American lawyer for the eastern district of Virginia, is deep tragic,” Bondi wrote. “Our hearts and prayers go to her family and friends during this very difficult time.”
