Jelly roll is saying goodbye to stress.
The country star made the decision to take a tech break and sealed the deal by throwing his phone in the river.
“This may not be the healthy way to do it, but I can confidently tell people that I won’t have a phone in 2025,” Jelly Roll said of his wife The Bunnie Xo podcast “Stupid blonde.”

Jelly Roll made these comments after asking his driver to take him to the Cumberland River.
“I got to the point where I was receiving hundreds and hundreds of text messages a day. And I was just overwhelmed,” he explained. “And when I finally sat down to go through them again, I felt like such a bad person for missing them… I had a lot of guilt. This phone gave me a lot of guilt.”
The “Son of a Sinner” singer previously said during interviews that if his “Beautifully Broken Tour” goes well, he promised to throw his mobile device off the Shelby Street Bridge.
During the podcast, Jelly Roll’s wife said this wasn’t the first time the musician had thrown away his phone. She added that people would contact her to get in touch with Jelly Roll.

“I’ve had the same number for almost 10 years. My husband has had about 17,” she said.
Jelly Roll explained, “I was missing text messages and knew there were so many of them there that it was too stressful to go and check. So I would avoid that by mindlessly scrolling or… I had these news alerts on my phone, and then we become big news stories all the time,” he added. “I started looking into that.”
Jelly Roll’s plan was to use a flip phone by 2025, as he believed, “It’s healthy for me. I would also use my phone as a way to dissociate.”
The Nashville, Tennessee native said the phone isn’t helping him become the person he wants to be.

“I want to be a better husband. I want to be a better father. I want to be a better person. I want one better artist.”
On November 27, Bunnie shared a video of him FaceTiming her before throwing his phone over the bridge.
“You know how I throw away my phone all the time… mommy, I love you, baby, I love you,” he said on the phone.
“I’m a little tipsy. I’m looking forward to spending the next few months alone with you, without any outside interference… freedom baby.”
Additionally, during the podcast, Jelly Roll, born Jason Bradley DeFord, said that he would not allow his weight to determine the amount of success he will have in the future.
“I did this in public for a reason,” he told his wife. “I want to be honest about my struggles with it with people. I carried it for so long.”

“I think people who get as big as me get a little embarrassed when they lose weight,” the actor explains. “Save Me” singer, who has lost 100 pounds.
“They’re so ashamed that they hide and lose weight, and then they come out again. They don’t really know how to interact with the world, how to look or feel different, you know? And they kind of got to find their whole new way.”
On his horizon, Jelly Roll had set himself a new goal: to become a cover model. “I want to be on the cover of ‘Men’s Health’ in March 2026,” he told his wife, who shared his excitement. “That’s my new goal. So I want to have one of the biggest transformations.”
