A lawyer Alex Spiro claims multiple people are willing to come forward to look into alleged inconsistencies in the rape allegation against Jay Z.

“There are dozens and dozens of people who will say there was no ‘white house’ party,” Spiro said Us Weekly and other reporters during a press roundtable on Monday, December 16, at the Roc Nation offices in New York.

Spiro was referring to the alleged location where the unnamed woman, who was identified as Jane Doe, claimed Jay-Z and Sean “Diddy” Combs raped her at an after party at the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards. According to Spiro, the home in question does not exist.

Earlier this month, Diddy and Jay-Z, both 55, were named in a civil action where the woman accused the two rappers of raping her when she was 13. The lawsuit was originally filed in October, with documents naming only Diddy, but Atty. Tony Busbywho represents many people who claim to be Diddy’s victims, refiled the paperwork on Dec. 8 to include Jay-Z in the lawsuit.

Jay-Z’s attorney Alex Spiro clarifies his client’s relationship with Sean “Diddy” Combs. “Mr. Carter has nothing to do with Mr. Combs or Mr. Combs’ case. They had known each other professionally for several years,” Spiro told Us Weekly and other reporters during a press roundtable on Monday, Dec. (…)

Both Jay-Z and Diddy have denied the allegations, and the Roc Nation founder filed for dismissal the civil action.

On Monday, Spiro began the roundtable by stating that Jay-Z had “not raped a child” before presenting a presentation which details the alleged holes in the accuser’s story.

The woman showed up last week to acknowledge the inconsistencies on her account, but stood by her claims. One of those inconsistencies is her description of the house where the incident allegedly took place. Busby and his team said they were trying to pinpoint the location the woman described. Spyro for his part criticized Busby on Monday.

“You can see now that it’s starting to unravel and the truth is coming out, he’s starting to walk away from it,” Spiro claims. “He says, ‘Oh, I’m sorry. This case was referred to our firm by another firm, so I didn’t really check it out. That’s basically what he said, right? He makes a charge like that, attacks a man of Mr. Carter’s integrity, and all he has to say about himself now is, “Well, I really haven’t checked that out. I got a referral trying to make some money. So we just played it live.”

Buzbee subsequently responded to Spiro’s comments in a statement about us.

“This client was registered and referred to our firm by another law firm. That law firm drafted the original complaint,” he said Monday. “However, four people from our firm also interviewed the client and verified details after accepting the referral. A basic customer check was performed. We also hired an experienced investigator to verify some of the details she revealed to us. These results were consistent with what the customer told us.

Busby continued: “We have sent a letter to Mr Carter’s lawyer and offered to sit down to discuss the allegations in confidence. Instead of accepting this offer, Mr. Spiro chose to file a public lawsuit accusing me personally of extortion. He made this claim knowing that we didn’t want money at all and put it in the public domain. The case is extremely frivolous. Additionally: At least three attorneys from our firm interviewed the client prior to the filing of the amended complaint naming Mr. Carter. The client also signed two separate affidavits. Our client remains adamant in her claim. Mr. Spiro is trying to be a bully. But we will not be bullied. Our conduct has been and will continue to be impeccable. We will raise some of our adversaries’ behavior in due course, which is extremely troubling.
