Jamie Foxx 'struck' by glass at birthday dinner and needed stitches, rep says he's 'recovering'

Jamie Foxx recovers after is injured at his birthday party on Friday, December 13.

“Jamie Foxx was at his birthday dinner when someone at another table threw a glass that hit him in the mouth,” Fox’s spokesperson said Us Weekly in a statement on Saturday, December 14. “He had to get stitches and is recovering. The police were called and the matter is now in the hands of law enforcement.

Fox celebrated his 57th birthday at Mr. Chow in Los Angeles. The Beverly Hills Police Department was called to the scene several hours later, responding to a call about a reported assault with a deadly weapon. According to the BHPD press releasethe alleged assault was eventually confirmed to be “unfounded”.

“The incident involved a physical altercation between the parties,” the press release said. “BHPD conducted a preliminary investigation and completed a report documenting the battery. No arrests have been made. The Beverly Hills Police Department remains committed to keeping our community safe and will continue to investigate this case.

The actor recently recovered from a health scare last year. In April 2023, Fox was hospitalized after an apparent medical complication. In a Netflix special released earlier this month, Fox revealed that he suffered a brain hemorrhage that led to a stroke.

“I want you to see me laughing, having a good time, partying, joking, doing a movie, a TV show. I didn’t want you to see me with pipes leaking out of me trying to figure out if I was going to make it,” he said in his What happened was stand-up special. “I can’t tell you how great it is to have your family involved like that and you all know they kept it tight, they didn’t let anything go, they protected me and that’s what I hope everyone can have in times like these.”

Fox further noted that “we still don’t know what happened to me,” noting that he remembers having a bad headache before his memory faded.

“I don’t remember 20 days. What they told me was that they took me to the first doctor and that first doctor gave me a cortisone shot and sent me home,” Fox added. “What the hell is this? I don’t know if you can do Yelps for doctors, but this is half a star.
