James Woods evacuates home threatened by LA wildfires


James Woods thanked first responders in messages shared online for keeping his community safe before evacuating his home as flames from the Palisades Fire raced through the hills in his backyard.

Woods, 77, captured footage of the wildfire as he evacuated. The wildfire started Tuesday morning in the Pacific Palisades area Los Angeles.

Los Angeles Fire Department Officials confirmed the Palisades fire broke out after 11 a.m. near the southeast side of Palisades Drive. Evacuation orders were issued as the fire grew to approximately 200 acres in size.

“We were blessed that LA’s fire and police departments did their jobs so well,” Woods wrote. “We are safe and outside. There are several primary schools in our area and there has been a huge community effort to evacuate the children safely.

“I can’t speak anymore about the LA fire and the LAPD.”

Fox News Digital reached out to Woods’ representative for comment.

Woods’ video appeared to show flames burning on the hill near a home. It is unclear whether the building in his video was damaged during the fire.

“I hope everyone gets out safely,” he wrote in another message, which showed heavy smoke covering the sky.

A extreme threat of wildfires covers much of Southern California through Wednesday, as a “life-threatening, destructive, widespread storm” is expected Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday morning, Los Angeles forecasters with the National Weather Service said.
