James Kennedygirlfriend of Ali Luberaddressed his arrest for criminal domestic violence.
“Thank you to everyone who reached out with love and support and for checking up on me,” Luber, 28, wrote via Instagram Story on Saturday, December 14. “I’m fine and I’m taking the time I need right now. I deeply appreciate the courtesy and respect for my privacy during this time.”
Us Weekly confirmed on Thursday, December 12 that the police were sent after they received a call about a dispute between a man and a woman. Authorities saw Kennedy, 32, grabbing a woman on Tuesday, December 10. Officers who responded to the scene did not see any visible injuries and he was released on $20,000 bond.
Kennedy’s lawyers released their own statement about Friday’s incident, which read: “We are in the process of conducting our own investigation into the allegations made by the Burbank Police Department against James. We understand that there were no injuries and we hope that after a careful investigation, city attorneys will decide not to file formal charges.
Lewber has previously disowned other Bravo stars Teddy Mellencamp and Tamra Judge‘s claims that they witnessed physical abuse of Kennedy to Luber. Scheana Shay revised the allegations after inviting Lewber on a February episode of her “Scheananigans” podcast.
“I think it was two years ago (after the MTV Movie and TV Awards). And (Tamra) said they were going to an afterparty at TomTom. And during that ride, there was an argument between two people in the car, which caused her and Teddy to get out of the car,” Shay, 38, explained. “They had to separate the two of them in the car. And (they) further suggested that James was involved and now there are rumors that Teddy may have hinted at a falling out between you and James.
Luber close assumptions that Kennedy had “physically harmed” or “assaulted” her.

“It’s crazy to me that this is the most asked question (of me). It makes me really sad because no, I’m fine. This has never happened. There was no physical altercation,” she told Shay at the time. “Yes, we were in the car together. I thought we were having fun. We had fun. But afterwards James and I had an argument, but there was no physical attack. I wasn’t bleeding and they didn’t have to get out of the car and separate us. So that didn’t happen. That’s all I’ll say about it.”
Lewber continued, “We’re fine. We are happy. He works on himself. I know from the past that he has anger issues. So I understand. But I just want people to know that I’m good, that I’m safe, and that I love him.
According to Luber, Kennedy was drinking during the 2022 disagreement. (Kennedy confirmed in Season 11 of Vanderpump Rules that he is currently sober after past substance abuse problems.)
“He was still drinking. Yes, we were all drunk in the back of that car. Yes, that’s true, Leuber explained. “But nothing happened physically. I mean, we went to TomTom. We showed up at TomTom and had fun. It was like a good night. I don’t think that was the moment or the night where we said, ‘Okay, drinking isn’t great.'”
Luber was grateful when Kennedy decided to eliminate alcohol from his lifeadding: “We will fight when we drink. I would drink and pick (fights). When you drink that much and in that environment, it’s not great. That’s not who we really are. This is an example of why he should not drink.
Later in the episode, Shay admits that Kennedy’s ex-girlfriends Rachel “Raquel” Lewis and Kristen Dout had previously sparked speculation that Kennedy he may have been physically abused to them during their relationships. Afterwards, Shay wanted to give Luber a “safe space” to talk about whatever was on his mind.
“Thank you. Because I didn’t know – answered Leuber. “Do I want to go on my Instagram to say, ‘I’m good, guys?’ Like, I don’t know how to navigate these things. And this is something very serious. And I appreciate everyone who worries about me. But I want everyone to know that I’m good.
Kennedy the ups and downs were at the center from several seasons of Vanderpump Rules. After first appearing in season 3, Kennedy’s long-running romance with Dout, 41, took a turn when she slapped Kennedy at Scheana’s wedding to Mike Shay in 2014 In another season, Kennedy spits on Dout’s door. (Doutt, for his part, reacted to Kennedy’s arrest by writing “Finally” via his Instagram story.)
Meanwhile, Lewis, 29, hinted that there are more details about her breakup with Kennedy that she has not previously shared with the public. On a January episode of her “Rachel Goes Rogue” podcast, Leviss recalled filming a scene for season 10 on Vanderpump Rules where she started hyperventilating while discussing their breakup and hinted that she missed a lot of information.
“I was telling them the story that I was planning to break up with James and how I intended to leave the ring box on the counter when he got back from Europe,” she recalled. “All my stuff would be gone and I felt that would be the safest way to break up with him. I didn’t go into details about why we’re breaking up and why I can’t be with him anymore.”
Lewis responded to Kennedy’s arrest through his legal team
“We are aware of the recent arrest of James Kennedy for domestic violence. This news, unfortunately, is not surprising,” her lawyers said. Mark Geragos and Brian Friedmansaid Us Weekly in a statement on Thursday.
Kennedy has never spoken publicly about Dowth and Lewis’ allegations.
