“I’m committed to making meaningful changes in my life,” Kennedy, 32, wrote via Instagram Story on Tuesday, Dec. 17. “I’m taking time to focus on my sobriety, personal growth, and being present for my loved ones.”
Kennedy thanked his loved ones for sticking by him, adding, “Navigating challenging times is not easy, but I am determined to learn, grow and move forward with an amazing support system around me.”
Us Weekly confirmed on Thursday, December 12 that police had been sent to Kennedy’s home, where he lives with his girlfriend Ali Luberon December 10. Authorities received a call about an argument between a man and a woman and saw Kennedy grab the woman. Officers who responded to the scene did not see any visible injuries.
According to police records obtained by peoplea woman reportedly told the Burbank Police Department that “her boyfriend picked her up and threw her to the ground.” Subsequently, Kennedy’s legal team published a statement on his behalf.

“We are in the process of conducting our own investigation into the allegations made by the Burbank Police Department against James,” his attorneys said in a statement to us after being released on $20,000 bail. “We understand there were no injuries and we hope that after a careful review, city attorneys will decide not to file formal charges.”
28-year-old Luber, for her part, has largely stayed out in the public eye since the arrest made headlines, according to a source us that the two take up little space.
“Thank you to everyone who reached out with love and support and for checking me out,” Lewber wrote via his Instagram story on Saturday, December 14. “I’m fine and I’m taking the time I need right now. I deeply appreciate the courtesy and respect for my privacy during this time.”
Kennedy joined Vanderpump Rules in 2015 when he was a bus in Lisa VanderpumpSUR restaurant. Over the years, Kennedy often went out with colleagues because of his relationship with alcohol.
In 2020 Kennedy celebrates one year of sobriety after numerous attempts to eliminate drinking from his life.
“Giving up drinking was the best decision I ever made and I’m still going strong. I don’t miss the alcohol …… I don’t miss the feeling …. I am so grateful for everything now and life has become more beautiful in so many ways,” Kennedy captioned an Instagram post in July 2020. “Thank you to my rock @raquelleviss for getting me here, I couldn’t have done this without you my love.♥️ and thank you all for your support over the past year.”
Kennedy later admitted that he was “California sober” because marijuana helped him stop drinking more. After his high profile separation from Rachel “Raquel” LewisKennedy confirmed that he had started drinking again.
“After two and a half years without a drop, I decided to drink again, have a few drinks. After Raquel left, I thought I was going to get married, I was engaged, you know what I mean? After everything I did to better myself, it just wasn’t enough,” Kennedy said during the season 10 premiere of Vanderpump Rules, which aired in January 2023. “And to be honest, it was a bloody new year. It was 2022, you know what I was doing? I feel for James Kennedy. Like, let me live.
Kennedy gave up alcohol again after meeting Luber. Before season 11 of Vanderpump Rules began airing in January, Lewber said in an interview with Bravo that Kennedy had “changed the most” over the years, gushing, “James, he’s in therapy, he’s sober, I’m really proud of him.”
