During the Jaguars’ home game Sunday, Dec. 1, against the Texans at EverBank Stadium, a fight broke out on the field between the two teams after Lawrence, 24, was hit in the head by Al-Shair, 27, during a play, on NBC Sports.
As Lawrence slid down at the end of a 6-yard run, Al-Shair used his arm to foul the opposing quarterback in the head and neck area, slamming Lawrence’s head into the ground.
Seconds after Lawrence’s punt, Jaguars tight end Evan Engram pushed Al-Sha’air in the back, which caused a massive brawl between the two teams to break out on the pitch. The two teams squared off against each other, according to footage shared by NFL. As officials ran to tend to Lawrence, who was still on the ground during the brawl, the crowd booed loudly as the teams continued their exchanges.
Lawrence was out for the rest of the game with a concussion. When he left the field, he was sitting in the front seat of a wheelchair. According to ESPNLawrence was not taken to hospital after his injury.

Along with Al-Shaair, Engram and Jaguars cornerback Jarrian Jones — who left the sidelines when the fight broke out — were also ejected from the game.
At halftime, the Texas coach DeMeco Ryan told Fox Sports Al-Shaair’s actions “are not representative of us,” while the Jaguars coach Doug Pederson called the incident a “clear hit.”
This is not Al-Shair’s first altercation on the football field. During the Texans’ Week 2 game against the Chicago Bears (which the Texans won), he hit the running back Roshon Johnson on the sidelines. He was fined $11,817 for the hit.
As for Lawrence, he and his wife Marissa Mowry expect their first child together after three years of marriage; they announced her pregnancy in June. In February 2023 Lawrence exclusively speaking Us Weekly that he and Mowry are looking forward to expanding their family — but in the future.
“I don’t know when that will happen. I think we’re going to wait a little bit,” he said at the time. “We were really just glad we didn’t have the responsibility of having kids (right now). … I wouldn’t say in the near future, but in the future. So probably in the next few years. We’re just enjoying where we are and we want to travel and be able to do all that before we settle down.”
