In addition, Lively requested “no further additions of sex scenes, oral sex, or camera climaxes by BL beyond the scope of the script approved by BL when signing the project.” Lively accused Baldoni of starting a campaign of “social manipulation” against her , to “destroy” her reputation. (Prior to the film’s premiere, Lively was criticized online for seemingly ignoring the topic of domestic violence in her ad. She later shared resources about intimate partner violence through social media.)
Baldoni’s lawyer, Brian Friedmancalled Lively’s allegations “completely false, outrageous and intentionally obscene” in a statement to Us Weeklyclaiming that Lively filed her lawsuit to “fix her negative reputation.”

Gotham/WireImageSklenar, who played the childhood love interest Atlas, issued a long statement regarding the alleged drama in August 2024. “Colleen (Hoover) and the women in this cast support hope, perseverance and women choosing a better life for themselves. “Defaming the women who put so much of their heart and soul into making this film because they believe so strongly in its message seems counterproductive and distracts from what this film is about,” he wrote via Instagram, seemingly coming in Lively’s defense amid the backlash to her promotion of the film. “In fact, it’s quite the opposite.”
Sklenar noted that he felt “disheartened” to see the “negativity” online before the film premiered. The actor also insisted that “there’s not a single person involved in the making of this film” who isn’t “aware of the responsibility we have in making this.”
A month later Sklenar said Access to Hollywood that he’s speaking out because It Ends With Us is “an important film for so many women and for so many survivors of domestic violence” with the intention of “making people feel heard, empowered and loved.” He added, “To design anything other than that seems counterintuitive.”
