An Israeli restaurant in Brooklyn was destroyed at the weekend in what mayor of New York City Eric Adams belt “Defined act of anti -Semitism.”
The New York City police told Fox News Digital that the Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating after the sentences “Israel steals culture” and “genocide cuisine” were painted early yesterday morning on the outside of Miriam.
“This was a despicable act of anti -Semitism in Miriam, a loved one Israeli restaurant In Park Slope, “Adams wrote on X and shared sharing images of the front door of the restaurant covered with red paint.
“As the mayor of the city with the greatest Jewish population outside of Israel, I am particularly deeply saddled by this bad deed. Make no mistake, the NYPD investigates and will find those responsible,” he added.

The restaurant said it was “unfortunately destroyed with messages from hatred”, but “we refuse to let this make our minds dark.”
“Miriam stands for inclusiveness and unity and brings people together through the shared love of delicious food and warm hospitality. We celebrate the various flavors of the Mediterranean Sea, where cultures are interwoven with each other and stories are shared,” ” It wrote on Instagram. “We will remain a safe place where everyone feels welcome. Participate in spreading love, not hatred.”
A second Miriam location in the Upper West Side neighborhood of Manhattan was destroyed in 2022, according to the New York Post.
Owner Rafi Hasid decided on Sunday to open the Brooklyn location with the messages that are still painted on the glass, the newspaper reported. Reportedly, three masked people were seen who focused on the property around 3 o’clock Sunday.
“I want people to see it. I don’t want to wash it right away. People should see … things like that happen,” Hasid said the post.

The NYPD told Fox News Digital that from Monday morning “there are no arrests, and the research is handled by the NYPD Hate Crimes Task Force.”
Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer And rep. Ritchie Torres, both Democrats from New York, placed support messages for Miriam after the incident.
“I visited Miriam tonight, the Brooklyn restaurant that experienced Vandaatelijk Vandalism last night. I met the owner, the workers and their customers,” Schumer wrote on X. “I told them that I stood with them and that a restaurant destroying because the Owner was Jewish, was an anti -Semitism.
