Jermell Charlo will repeat his career late this summer. Former unquestionable Middleweight Charlo champion (35-2-1, 19 kos) took two years vacation since he got a big day of payment in a match against Canelo Alvarez on September 30, 2023.
Title shot?
It is believed that Jermell will target one of the champions at 154, with WBC and WBO Champ Sebastian fundora Being the potential champion fights.
Lance Pugmire reports This supporter Tom Brown says Charlo, 34, will return “late in the summer”.
Obviously it would seem bad if Charlo gets a straight title shot coming from a two-year dismissal and a 12-stroke unanimous loss of decision at Canelo. He should at least fight the top candidate in ranking, such as Serhii Bohachuk or Xander Zayas.
IBF champion Bakhram Murtazaliev will not be the choice because Charlo has never shown any interest in fighting him when he was mandatory. He will certainly not want to fight him after two years of layoffs and has to deal with the IBF 10 LB re -training rule.
It is questionable whether Jermell will be able to do so through the training camp without suffering any kind of injury. We all remember how Tim Tszyu had problems trying to get a title shot against Charlo when he was holding the WBO title and suffered a hand injury. Jermell then climbed to 154 to challenge Canelo for his belts, leaving Tszyu by wasting time trying to take a fight against him.
Riyadh Dreams?
It would be interesting to know why Jermell Charlo suddenly decided his career. Does he hope that there will be interest in Riyadh’s era cards?
When someone hears Ryan Garcia making $ 20 million to focus on Rolando Rolly Romero on a May 2 card tune, which could have planted some ideas on Jermell’s head.
Ryan is young, popular with a huge monitoring of social media, easily understandable and reliable. Charllo’s latest performance was terrible against Canelo and did not look good in his fights against Brian Castano and Tony Harrison.
Fans who were not around when Jermell fought these guys would not mind him back. But if you have pursued his career from the beginning, you will know that he has been overpriced and will not beat any of the top fighters at 154.
