A junior hockey player was beaten unconscious during a fight on Tuesday evening, so that the game was suspended.
Tri-City Americans defender Terrell Goldsmith, 19, and Ashton Cumby of the Seattle Thunderbirds dropped the gloves just after a face-off at the start of the second period.
The pair changed strokes and the helmet of Goldsmith was turned off. Shortly after his helmet was eliminated, Cumby landed a hard blow that Goldsmith sent unconscious, while he fell face-first On the ice.

The trainer of the Americans ran the ice and the Thunderbirds trainer also left his respective bank to help with Goldsmith. The incident was so scary that cameras did not show Goldsmith on the ice that was cared for by trainers. Teammates were clearly seen on trainers.

The Americans placed X on Wednesday morning with an update about Goldsmith.
“Terrell Goldsmith will stay in the hospital this morning under observation. Upon arrival at the hospital last night, he was awake, responsive and in good mood. The Tri-City Americans appreciate the words of concern and support for Goldsmith. We will continue to update his status,” was the statement.
After Goldsmith’s injury, the game was delayed and then suspended. The Western Hockey League said that the match “will be planned again at a later time.”
The Thunderbirds had a 2-0 lead at the time of the suspension.

“The decision to suspend the WHL match between Seattle and Tri-City last night was not made lightly. After the incident on the ice, coaches and players from both clubs were consulted, together with various on-and-off-Ice officials in the building and the WHL office,” was the WHL statement.
“Together the decision was made to suspend the game out of concern for the well-being of Terrell Goldsmith and for the emotional state of players in both the Thunderbirds and American grilles.”
“The game will be moved at a later time, although those conversations have not yet taken place if we continue to prioritize Terrell’s well -being.”
The Americans posted another update about Goldsmith on X on Thursday, where they thanked everyone for their support to Goldsmith and said he had been released from the hospital on Wednesday evening and rested at home.
When the game is resumed, Goldsmith would, if they could play, and Cumby would not play in the rest of the game, because they both received fighting Majors and Game -Wanging behavior for a ‘staged fight’.
