An American hero who tackled a church shooter from Pennsylvania was surprised by the pastor he saved while being recognized for his bravery at the Fox Nation Patriot Awards.
Deacon Clarence McCallister of Jesus’ Dwelling Place in North Braddock, Pennsylvania, watched in horror as an armed man pointed his gun at Pastor Glenn Germany in the middle of a church service in May.
When the man pulled the trigger, the gun did not fire and McCallister tackled him before he could get another shot off. Months later, the two reunited on the Fox Nation stage at the Patriot Awards and spoke out gratitude to God for saving their lives.
“In America, we are all heroes,” McCallister said as he accepted the “Award for Bravery” and expressed his gratitude to his family. “We are all heroes. We all have the heart to do what it takes to do… We have maternal instincts. We are going to do everything to protect our children. We are going to do everything to protect our loved ones.”

Germany, who surprised his McCallister with a heartfelt entrance, said it was “good to be alive.”
“I thank you God that he has protected me and watched over me,” Germany said. ‘I thank God for saving this angel. Hallelujah! That he made sure nothing else happened in our building. So I’m very grateful. I really thank the Lord for his protection.”
“Today is Thanksgiving Day,” he continued. “I’m grateful for my lovely wife who was here with me, and she’s always been an anchor for me, and I’m so grateful to have her in my life.”
Germany has also offered a “true, sincere word” to newly elected President Donald Trump in light of the attempt on his life.

“The young man who tried that, I have forgiven him, and the point is that we love these young men, young women who have mental illness,” Germany said. “They need our help, and I pray today that we can work together and show them love. God bless you, America. We have the greatest country, and I pray it will be the safest and greatest country.”
