Gunners all except a four -month seal with first apron route

Arsenal put the recent Premier League matches behind them in style as they traveled to an emphatic 7-1 victory over PSV Eindhoven in the first leg of the last decade of the Champions League.

Gunners’ trip to Stadion Philips looks like a potentially difficult, as PSV hit Juventus in the play-and-a-view round with a 3-1 win in the same area.

A home defeat at West Ham, followed by a miserable tie with Nottingham Forest meant that Arsenal went to the conflict that had no momentum, but soon found it in a dominant screen in the first half.

Mikel Arteta’s men took advantage of some frightening defense by three goals in 15 minutes, Jurrien Timber’s 18th minute header, followed by efforts by Ethan Nwaneri and improvised striker Mikel Merino to finish the competition.

Noah Lang’s sentence gave PSV light hope, but a second half by Martin Odegaard on every side of a Leandro Trossard Strike from virtually won Arsenal’s position in the last eight against either Real Madrid or Atletico Madrid, with Riccardo Calafiori.

PSV Eindhoven vs Arsenal

The PSV was very unfortunate not to take the lead when David Raya could only fight a cross as the ismael Saibari, but one of the heroes of victory over Juve saw his shot hit Crossbar.

This missed opportunity was immediately punished with a well -edited opener by the Gunners as the timber increased to the distant position to ease in the home of Declan Rice.

The lead doubled when Myles Lewis-Skelly found space on the left side of the box to get up to his colleague Nwaneri, who burst home an eighth target of the season, finding the top left corner from the empty range.

The comic defense from PSV allowed Merino to calm down in a third, confirmed by VAR after a long check on the offside, that the cessation of Arteta to take out Lewis-Skelly, who had previously been held for a foul on Luuk de Jong and was lucky enough Ledezma.

De Jong was at the thickness of the action again, however, as the PSV took a journey back to the game. The referee Jesus Gil Manzano showed no hesitation to show on the spot, after Thomas Party pulled De Jong from the neck in a corner and Lang sent a 12 -meter confident.

It might have been even better for the PSV had de Jong not to head close close, and three minutes in the second half of this lost effect was enlarged as Arsenal transformed it into a route.

Odegaard struck for 4-1 after Nwaneri’s low cross was a palm on his path. Ninety -nine seconds later, Trossard abandoned the multitude of home with mistrust, dinking over the horrifying Walter Benitez, who was fault in the 76th minute when he only succeeded to help a straight shot from Odegaard on his way to the net.

He has reached more humiliation for PSV, with Benitez leaving to recover the ball from the net again, after Odegaard played at Marauding Calafiori to lead from the place, as Arsenal became the first team in the history of the Champions League to score seven away from home.
