Greece against Scotland – Line -ups, Statistics and Preview

Preview of Greece’s fight against Scotland

Scotland is trying to maintain their place at the top tier of the Nations Championship when they take over Greece in the first leg of the promotion/relegation play-off on Thursday.

Steve Clarke’s tartan army intends to take a dip at the highest level of international football after the last two European championships have achieved, but will have to remain in Championship A to maintain their reputation before the World Cup qualifiers.

Until the last three games of their campaign, the Scots looked like an immediate return to the second tier after losing each of their first five games.

But after taking their first point in a draw with Portugal in October, midfielder John McGinn inspired victories over Croatia and Poland to secure third place in the A1.

Greece also has the goals to reach the top tier for the first time, though it was unfortunate to end as runners -up in League B2, matching England’s records with five wins and one defeat.

This even gave an impressive victory over the three Lions in Wembley and having won six of the last seven in all the games, they will be sure when they welcome the Scots.
