Jean Smart has a message for TV executives among the ongoing fires in Los Angeles.
“Caution! With all due respect, during the holiday season in Hollywood, I hope that one of the TV stations broadcasting the upcoming awards will seriously consider NOT airing them and donating the proceeds they would raise to the victims of the fires and the firefighters.” Hacks star wrote via Instagram on Wednesday, December 8.
Smart’s plea is different Hollywood events were affected of at least four fires in Los Angeles. The Critics Choice Awards — scheduled to take place on Sunday, January 12, and air on E! — were postponed, as was the announcement of the Oscar nominations. The big reveal was supposed to take place on Friday, January 17, and is now scheduled for Sunday, January 19, according to The Hollywood Reporter. (The Oscars are scheduled to air March 2 on ABC.)
“This unfolding tragedy has already had a profound impact on our community. All our thoughts and prayers are with those battling the devastating fires and with all those affected,” Critics Choice Awards Executive Director Joey Berlin it said in a statement. The Critics Choice Awards will now air live on January 26.

Many Hollywood stars were affected by the fires in LA, fueled by strong Santa Ana winds. By Wednesday evening, another fire broke out in the Hollywood Hills, a neighborhood popular with celebrities.
Dancing with the stars host Julian Hough was among the Hollywood Hills residents who evacuated area Wednesday.
“Okay, so there’s a fire right next to my house,” Hugh said via Instagram Stories in a clip recorded at her home. “We’re with friends, but anyone who’s in the Hollywood Hills, I just had this gut feeling that we’re in a bowl with how everything surrounds Hollywood, and now it’s in the center of Hollywood. “Sonny and I are safe and we’re driving, but the reason I’m saying ‘evacuate now,’ even if it’s not near you, if you have a place to go, is because: There’s traffic,” she said. “And you’ll be stuck in traffic. And that’s not good. So everyone, please stay safe and send prayers to all the first responders and firefighters and just pull together – you know all you can do is be there for each other.”
