“I think it can be misconstrued in the world of like, I’m doing it because I want to say I can do it, and it’s not really about that,” The night agent the 30-year-old star said during an appearance on Tuesday, January 14 The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. “For me, it’s about immersing yourself in the audience.”
Basso stars in the Netflix series as FBI agent Peter Sutherland, who works at the White House as a Night Action phone operator. He told Fallon, 50, that when the audience is watching The night agenthe wants them to feel that his performance is believable.
“I don’t want the audience to watch the show, and then right when I’m about to get hit or get thrown or thrown on my back, you know. I feel like it’s a lie,” the actor said. “I like to play, I don’t like to lie.”
For Basso, he believes there is a “difference” when it comes to performing stunts for the “immersion of the audience” and “for credibility.”
“They like Peter (and) watching him take hits is important, I think,” he explained. “And if that requires me to be thrown into a wall, then fine. It’s not the end of the world.”

Courtesy of NetflixA stunt that was on the table for Basso was skydiving — which he already does in his personal life.
“(Netflix) pitched it as an idea and then I was like, ‘Oh, I’ve already skydived.’ I’m going to do it,” Basso said. “But then the insurance called and was like, ‘Yeah, stop.'”
Fallon then showed a photo of Basso skydiving.

The late-night host realized he was holding Basso’s photo upside down in the air. Basso joked that his photo in the sky “looked cooler on the other side” as his back appeared to be facing the ground.
“I like that. That’s hard to do,” Fallon teased before resuming his pose in his chair. “You really need to arch your back.”
Last month, Basso took an epic leap from the Netflix airship during the Christmas football game between the Baltimore Ravens and the Houston Texans. Basso parachuted from an airship in Houston. After completing the stunt, he subsequently revealed that the season 2 trailer for The night agent dropped out.
“It was great to see Houston from an airship. Definitely a memory!” Basso said to Tudum on Netflix in December 2024
The night agent season 2 premieres on Netflix on Thursday, January 23.
