Paul Scholes says Manchester United have to sign at least five players “with little quality” or face the possibility of relegation from the Premier League next season.
United is the 13th on the table, but with the new boss Ruben Amorim that makes a little impression and the team full of players are not seemingly good for the rigidity of England’s top flight, Scholes believes summer review is required.
The Red Devils have spent heavy last summer, but only Leny Yoro can be considered a decent signature – and the jury remains out of injuries – with Joshua Zirkzee and Matthijs de Ligt struggling to do the grade.

And Scholes is scared another repetition in 2025 could have devastating consequences.
United does not have a fixed spine – Scholes
The former United and England midfielder said in the debate about the coating fan: “There are a few things about.
“When you look at the teams, you look just below the spine of a team. Liverpool: Great goalkeeper, big central half, front, middle, anything else. I don’t think United has anything in any position.
“I think you need a new goalkeeper, possibly two central halves, two mid -range central players and two centrally forwards.
“Okay, I’ll go for a central middle and a center forward, but with a little stature, a little quality, and I will really create a spine. When you have this spine, then you can add pieces to it.
“This spine, this core, is so important. If they do not do this this summer, it may sound ridiculous, but the form since this manager has come, they could consider relegation. I tell you, were so bad. “
The league is a concern for Amorim
United has won only three of the last 11 league games, but fell in the fifth round of the FA Cup on Friday night thanks to Harry Maguire’s late header against Leicester City.
The tie last night was combined with Fulham in Old Trafford.
