Days after he was fired President Donald Trump, Former joint staff leaders chairman Air Force Gen. CQ Brown went to social media to express his gratitude for his time in the army.

Brown wrote that it was his “clear honor” to end his military career as chairman of the joint chiefs and that he used his position to concentrate on warfare, modernization and trust.
“The dedication of the Joint Force to our safety has never been so critical. I am convinced that you will remain determined in the defense of our nation,” Brown wrote in part.

Brown was the second black general who served as chairman of the joint chiefs, after the now late Gen. Colin Powell’s Term from 1989 to 1993. He served 16 months in the position before Trump’s decision to relieve him.
