Former Filipino President Rodrigo Duterte was arrested on Tuesday at Manila Ninoy Aquino International Airport after an order of the International Criminal Court (ICC), which is investigating a crime against humanity that has been submitted against the former leader.
Duterte, 79, was taken into custody at the airport in the Philippines after his trip to Hong Kong, reports the Associated Press.
The ICC has investigated “massive murders that took place under the fatal action of the former president against illegal drugs,” said the AP via the office of President Ferdinand Marcos.
